Questions & Answers

Shopper : how many rolls are in one pack?Karsten B : There is only one roll that contains 24 exposures in this package.fedja m : 1DAVID V : I do not understand the question.WILLIAM W : I believe one roll per pack
Shopper : where can I get this film developed?WILLIAM W : Dwayne's Photo through the mail. They're located in Kansas and I have had great experiences with them. I get the negatives developed and scanned and they sendyou a disk and then get the one's I want enlarged. It is not really to expensive considering... If you are in Philadelphia then do it yourself at Project Basho.RONALD S : You can get B&W developed at most drug stores or mail order sites I will sometime test my cameras and quickly just get film developed with no prints and not cut, but retain the roll intact from a drug store a drug store. If I want better quality I ship to a top lab.John Jeffrey D : Any 35mm film lab or local camera club.ROBERT H : If you are mildly adventurous, you could do it at home. Not very expensive and a lot of fun. Adorama has the equipment you need and youtube would have all sorts of how to's on how to process the film.ANDREW R : There are several mail-order facilities that process traditional Black and White film, however this film may also be easily developed in a home darkroom as well.
Shopper : Hi I was wondering when you bought your kodak pan 400 Tx was the film expired? I want to know if what you received was expired film and if that film had a difference from regular non-expired film.chris e : I've never received out of date or short-dated film from Adorama. Their stock turnover seems to prevent this issue and their delivery speed makes sure I do not need to over order and keep extra stock at home. A key for me is to refill my bag by ordering smaller numbers more frequently, typically a few rolls past the free shipping mark. I don't rely on long-term storage or refrigeration because it just seems too much for me to worry about. **only thing to note are Adorama's (and many other retailers) holiday hours, this can make things tricky to stay in-stock in October.Nigel A : The film that I purchased from Adorama was NOT expired. I have used expired film (year out of date) in the past and have been happy. In this particular case the film had been kept refrigerated (in a baggy in a frig crisper drawer).DAVID V : The film I received was not expired. Although I have not yet used it, my experience from the past indicates that there has been (with my use) no difference and at one time I used Tri-X that was three years expired. This, by the way, was several years ago. As far as I am concerned, use the film with great success. DJVFRANK S : Hi: I've never had anything but the freshest of film shipped to me by Adaroma. However: it's a good practice to refrigerate film till use but leave temp up before using. Can be frozen as well. On the other side, outdated and neglected film will have a loss of contrast. Normally, it's a clear bar between the frames after developing but depending on condition, age, and storage of very old film the clear bar will appear gray. Somewhat like the appearance of a light fog. This will make a print gray to very gray but can be assisted to near normal by the use of contrast filters, a high graded paper, or a hard developer or combination when printing in the darkroom.HANS G : The film was not expired when I bought it. Generally black and white film will be good long past it's expiration date as unlike color film there is no color shift. I have some rolls of Agfa Pan 400 that have long since expired and still look good. You may have the sensitivity of the film decrees a little so if it is old you may want to compensate by lowering the ISO value on your meter or opening up a bit.ELI P : No, my film was not expired. Exp date was in 2013HENRY H : No the film I received doesn't expire until 2013, and so of course it has come out perfectly fine.Pat S : The film was fresh. If it's expired they will list it as such.

Kodak Tri-X Rocks!!!

Tri-x has been my favorite film for many years. It's a breeze scanning or printing in my darkroom. So glad that it's back in my price range again. I also like how Adorama sweetened up the deal and basically threw in a a free Pro Optic Cleaning Kit. Plus, the film they sent in the 10-pack is super fresh.

So far so good. I haven't used all my exposures yet so I have no idea what the quality of the photos will look like but I'm excited!

Getting TX400 "GREAT" results

I always always get great results with this film. Like dad said you only get what you pay for so you want the best "BUY" the best. Being new to film I need all the help I can get but i am getting there. Oh yea learning developing too. Pretty easy to do. I would recommend this film to anyone who "WANTS" quality.

A true classic

This is a good moderate speed black and white film. It was the standard until train films came out. So why is tri-x still available decades after tmax and delta and similar t grain films came on the market? There's just something about tri-x.

My go to bw film. Fast enough for all types of weather, great depth of grayscale and able to hold on when being pull two stops. I hope it is still available for long time.

The Legend

It's 400TX. Its reputation precedes it. Sharp film despite the graininess, killer tones and a lot of latitude.

Best B&W Film Ever

By JAMES H.

All the great ones used it - Cartier-Bresson, Winogrand.... Still better than anything one can whip up in Photoshop. Funny how software designers are creating plug-ins that recreate the look and feel of Tri-X. Just use Tri-X! Excellent tonal range, wonderful, raw grain. D76 1:1 and skip the photo labs.

My alltime favorite film

By Rich P.

I started out 30-odd years ago with my first 35mm camera and fell in love with Tri-X. Today I am a fulltime photojournalist with a small newspaper shooting digital. BUT when I want to shoot for my own personal work, I pull out my dad's Yashica GS35 and rolls of Tri. It does more to improve my eye than anything else.

Under the trusted brand name of Kodak, the Tri-X Pan 400 Black & White Negative Film stands out as a professional-grade, high-speed panchromatic film. With an ISO rating of 400, this film is an excellent choice for capturing subjects in low-light conditions or fast-paced action. It's also ideal for scenarios that demand good depth of field, rapid shutter speeds, and for extending the flash distance range in your photography.

The Tri-X Pan 400 film is versatile and available in both 120 and 135 sizes, as well as 35 and 70mm long rolls, catering to a wide range of photography needs. This 35mm film, with its 24 exposures, is particularly popular among photographers for its reliability and durability.

One of the unique features of this film is its retouching capability. You can retouch the 120-size film on the emulsion side, providing an added layer of flexibility and creativity in your photography process. Furthermore, the Tri-X Pan Film is highly recommended for push-processing applications, making it a reliable choice for professional photographers and enthusiasts alike.

In summary, the Kodak Tri-X Pan 400 Black & White Negative Film ISO 400, 35mm Size, 24 Exposure is a high-quality, versatile, and durable choice for those seeking to capture the world in stunning black and white.
