This is such a nice lens! Lots of character and yet is sharp too. A favorite for Fuji. The only drawback is that it has a pretty strong flare / haze when facing the sun. But totally worth it anyway.

So this lens from Kamlan has a really solid, chunky, build. It fits perfectly on my Fujifilm X-T3. It is "manual everything" and thus takes some time to get a feel for. The 1.4 minimum aperture yields some really fine Bokeh, particularly at close focus distances. It is surprisingly sharp and its images have a soft, slightly bluish tone. With a minor white balance adjustment you can bring it closer to the look of a fujinon lens, if that's what you prefer. I focus it with the "peak highlight" feature of the camera and have no issue getting shots sharp, though it does take a little patience. For me personally, I feel like it is best suited to taking photos where you have time to get things framed up and with the desired depth of field. If you need to setup quickly and get a shot off, this lens is going to be challenging. It is a fun lens just to pop on the camera and "see what you can get". I've taken some really fine photos with it and I can recommend it heartily!

Been looking for a quality low cost environmental portrait lens and found the Kamlan. It renders nice color and contrast. The bokeh falls away in a visually pleasant manner. The circular blades produce nice bokeh balls even at f16. Place your subject in the central area for best results. The central area is plenty sharp for portrait use. The corners and edges do have some focus fall off. Lens not recommended for landscape use where entire frame must be in focus. This applies only to pixel peepers. Plenty good for street photos. Lens is small but heavy with solid build quality. Focus and aperture adjustment is smooth and firm. One can feel the high quality. The 21mm is on par with this 28mm. The 50mm is far superior in all aspects. You cannot go wrong with any of these Kamlan lenses. Enjoy...

On the Fuji X system, this lens translates to a 42mm f2 Prime. That's the classic 'normal' focal length, before 50mm became the norm. it's wide enough to do streetscapes, portraits and general pictures, so it's a great all-purpose lens. You could do a whole day of picture taking with that focal length and not feel limited. Build quality is great, it's small but deceptively heavy for the size. Rings are very smooth, but a bit stiffer than i'd like, and I really wish aperture ring was not clickless. Metal hood is nice, but adds unnecessary weight. Markings are clean, machining is very solid, and it clicks onto the body reassuredly. Images are nice and clear, no appreciable color casting or wierdness, it's not tack sharp at f1.4, but at that super-shallow DOF, any lens will be hard to focus precisely, and at f4 it's as good as any lens. at $ it's a great lens if you already don't have the Fuji XF23 or XF35, it falls in-between those two, but gives you roughly 2 extra stops of light (the f2 translates to f2.8) while lacking autofocus. I usually take this along with the XF18mm f2 whenever I have my camera with me.

Why 28MM
> Normal lenses are valued because they provide a natural angle of view that is similar to what the human eye sees. The images they produce are very relatable and engaging because they feel like scenes people have seen. The focal length is extremely versatile for a wide range of applications - from landscapes to portraits to street photography. The Kamlan 28mm f/1.4 offers a great "normal" focal length and a large maximum aperture at a bargain price
Premium Optical Design
The Kamlan 28mm lens has a large, bright f/1.4 aperture with 11-blade circular aperture iris that allows for great results in low light conditions and also the ability to create beautifully soft backgrounds. It allows for more control over the depth of field, letting you choose what will be in focus. Further extending the flexibility of the lens is the ability focus down to just 0.25m (9.48 inches), allowing you to fill the frame with your subject and throw the background dramatically out of focus. The 0.15x maximum magnification figure is higher than competing lenses
Great Color Rendition
The lens utilizes high quality optical glass with higher levels of refraction to help shape light more efficiently and to produce lower chromatic aberrations. Chromatic aberrations are noticeably more controlled than on competing lenses.
Bokeh: Shoot at F1.4 anytime!
The lens sports a premium 11-blade circular aperture iris, which enables it to have soft, creamy backgrounds with circular highlights even when the lens is stopped down to smaller apertures. The very artful rendering from the lens is unique from a lens at this inexpensive price point.
Close and Sharp
The optical formula is 8 elements in 7 groups with 6 High Refractive Index Elements which provides good center sharpness even at f/1.4. Stopping the lens down to f/2 produces image with high contrast and sharpness, when the lens is stopped down to smaller apertures it is sharp from corner to corner.
