Works great with the Nikon 70-300mm

Ummm ... it's not exactly true that this works only on "professional" cameras. It'll work on any camera that matches the mount (Canon or Nikon) and any fully compatible lenses. But it's also true that ANY teleconverter also has a light loss, which is equal to the teleconversion gain. So, since this is a 2x teleconverter, you will generally lose 2 stops of light to "pay" for the "gain" of 2x mm in focal length. So, if one has an 18-300mm lens which stops down to f/5.6 at the long end, this addition will force another two stops down to f/11. Similarly, if the lens ordinarily opens up to f/4 at the 18mm end, this teleconverter will convert the focal length to 36mm, but at the same time stop the aperture down to f/8. The "speed" of the lens will go down two stops in each case. Hope this helps anybody else who is confused. That said, I agree that customers of the Adorama site cannot be expected to know all this, so they should have mentioned the light loss factor. As it stands, the item description makes it sound like there is a focal length gain without any kind of loss! Caveat: The manufacturers state that this converter will only work with "genuine" lenses, by which I assume they mean lenses by the same maker as the mount types, i.e., Canon, Nikon, etc.,) and is not guaranteed to work with other lenses.

Adorama neglected to say this product only is for a professional-grade digital camera. In order to be able to capture birds on the fly or wildlife moving along, one must be able to set focus automatically. This product requires an aperture of 3.5 in order to use auto focus. My camera stops at 7.1, with this product attached, requiring manual focus, which is not possible when a bird is flying overhead. This product came highly recommended by a professional photographer, so I will have to assume it is a great product with the proper camera. Mine is a Canon EOS Rebel SL2, with Sigma 18-300 lens.

Teleconverter works very well; the adjustments for f-stop loss are a little tricky to get used to, but overall it does a fantastic job and for a good price! Beats a new lens if you're in a pinch.

Like the price and for not being a Nikon product it works really good. The reason I gave it a 4 star it's because it's not too sturdy. Hopefully I will make use of it for a long time.

Since Nikon does not have a teleconverter that will auto focus with my Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AF Nikkor lens, I had to go with a third party teleconverter to accomplish the task. After going through many reviews I took the chance and ordered the Kenko 1.4x Teleplus HD Pro from Adorama. This is a high quality product that works very well and auto focus is quick and the lens only looses one stop of light. The sharpness is still very good with the extended range that is acquired by the 1.4x crop. I also tried it out on my 70-300 f4.5-5.6 vr lens with acceptable quality in daylight, although not pro quality as you would get from a prime lens.

I am using with a tamron 150-600mm zoom lens. G1. Have to use manual focus. Pictures are great at 600mm. Use a monopod. No problems.

KENKO TELEPLUS HD pro 1.4x DGX is a tele converter designed to make images more impressive by turning your master lens into a tele lens and capturing the object more close.
By installing it between the lens and the camera body, KENKO TELEPLUS HD pro 1.4x DGX increases the effective focal length of your lens by 1.4x.
Precisely made in Japan and compatible with a wide range of genuine cameras and lenses, it is particularly helpful for those professional photographers as well as amateurs who may need a tele lens but feel no reason to purchase a new expensive one due to low frequency of use. Its small size and compact design also allow to conveniently carry it all the time in your gears bag instead of numerous and heavy lenses.
An optional accessory to bring your photos on a new level of creativity in the most convenient way.
For Canon EF mount (for Canon EF lenses only. Canon EF-S lenses are not compatible).
KENKO TELEPLUS HD pro DGX tele converters are compatible with only proprietary lenses (Nikon and Canon) and Tokina lenses (except Tokina AT-X 70-200mm F4 PRO FX VCM-S and opera 50mm F1.4 FF Nikon mount).
Concept
KENKO TELEPLUS HD pro DGX tele converter is a high precision manufactured optical device to be installed between the camera body and the master lens. Its purpose is to multiply the focal length of the lens according to its multiplication factor, changing your lens into a tele lens, with minimum loss of resolution and sharpness of the image. For example, an 1.4x Tele converter can turn a 70-200mm lens into a 98-280mm lens. The Kenko PRO 300 DGX is a premium series of tele converters specifically designed to be used with highresolution DSLR cameras and lenses.
Optical features improvements
Optical construction has been redesigned by implementing additional optical elements and by incorporating improved multi-layer anti-reflection coating to keep the original performance of the new generation DSLR camera and lenses.
Communication with camera
Equipped with all electrical contacts to support communication between the camera and the lens. The focal length and aperture values will be recorded in EXIF data and converted to the actual shooting values with the tele converter installed.
Gorgeous external finish
The external design has been retouched in a black leather tone finish to perfectly match with the latest lenses and DSLR cameras.
Compact in size
With approx. 2 cm in height this small, compact and convenient to carry tele converters will extend the focal length of the lens providing the photographer a great chance to shoot impressive images.
Practical Advantages
Kenko Teleplus tele converters can dramatically change your photos by making the object appear larger in the image and yet maintaining its high resolution and quality. This result can be achieved by simply using this lightweight and compact tele converter even if you do not have or cannot afford a good and powerful super tele lens.
