Because of its innovative design, the 49mm IR/UV Cut Color Correcting Hot Mirror Lens Filter, also known as a lowpass filter or UV/IR cut filter, effectively blocks infrared light and some UV light. This advanced filter is specifically engineered to allow a full spectrum converted camera to capture normal images with optimal color rendition.
The filter is paired perfectly with a two-spectrum converted camera, offering a similar transmission to the hot mirror filters that cameras typically use. This design feature ensures the regular white balance presets of your camera continue to function as normal.
Our hot-mirror filters are now enhanced with an anti-reflective corrosion-resistant coating. This significant upgrade reduces artifacts and boosts the durability of the filter, particularly in humid regions. Please note that this coating is applicable up to 82mm size filters.
Unlike other hot mirror filters that are clear, our filter boasts a distinctive blue color. This is not just an aesthetic choice; the original lowpass filters found in cameras share this same shade of blue. This color similarity is a visual confirmation that the filter is effectively blocking the same wavelengths.
In terms of wide-angle usage, our filter stands out from the competition. Unlike the B+W 486 filter, our filter doesn't block light by interference but uses absorption. This means that no matter the angle of incidence, the color will remain consistent. The B+W 486 filter may cause color changes on wide angles around the edges, but ours will not.
Our filter requires no exposure compensation and is designed with aggressive IR blockage to eliminate IR leak on all camera models. Consequently, it also allows more UV transmission than many cameras. For outdoor uses, it is recommended to pair it with a UV filter or use it over our two-spectrum conversion for optimal results.
For a full spectrum camera, without a filter, images will appear very red. However, with our filter and two popular hot mirror filters, the Tiffen Hot Mirror and B+W 486 UV/IR cut filter, you can capture regular pictures with balanced colors. All pictures were taken with auto white balance.
In conclusion, the 49mm IR/UV Cut Color Correcting Hot Mirror Lens Filter is a cutting-edge solution for photographers seeking to enhance their image quality and color rendition.
