This filter, also known as a lowpass filter or UV/IR cut filter, is expertly designed to block infrared and some ultraviolet light, allowing a full spectrum converted camera to capture images with enhanced color accuracy. This versatile filter is particularly beneficial when paired with a two-spectrum converted camera, as it optimizes color rendition. Our hot-mirror filters are now enhanced with an anti-reflective, corrosion-resistant coating, which significantly reduces artifacts and boosts the filter's durability, especially in humid regions. Uniquely designed for use with a full spectrum or two-spectrum converted camera, this filter mimics the transmission of the hot mirror filters that cameras typically employ. This design ensures the normal use of the camera with all regular white balance presets still functioning effectively. Unlike other hot mirror filters that are clear, our filter is blue, mirroring the shade of the original lowpass filters found in cameras. This coloration serves as a visual confirmation that the filter is blocking the same wavelengths. Our filter stands out from the crowd, as it doesn't block light by interference like the B+W 486 filter, but instead uses absorption. This means that regardless of the angle of incidence, the color will not change, eliminating color changes on wide angles around the edges. The filter requires no exposure compensation and is designed with aggressive IR blockage to eliminate IR leak on all camera models. Consequently, it also has more UV transmission than many cameras. For outdoor uses, it is recommended to pair it with a UV filter or use it over our two-spectrum conversion. A full spectrum camera, without a filter, will appear very red and needs some form of hot mirror filter to take regular pictures.
