This powerful instrument boasts 37 velocity-sensitive "Natural Touch" mini-keys, offering a responsive and intuitive playing experience. The MicroKorg XL+ seamlessly blends analog modeling with a 16-channel vocoder, delivering a broad spectrum of styles and sounds to cater to your creative needs. It comes pre-loaded with 128 programs, but the sound banks can be expanded further with the free, downloadable editor software, providing endless possibilities for sound creation.For musicians performing in a band setup, the keyboard incorporates the rich piano sound from Korg's renowned SGprox classic stage piano, along with a hard-edged, grand-type electric piano. The sound palette is further enriched with the inclusion of the M1 and VOx organ sounds, vintage tape-type string and flute machines, and more. The MicroKorg XL+ offers full-range sound playing, either through the onboard octave switch or by connecting a MIDI-capable, full-sized keyboard. The innovative sound selector allows you to choose sounds using two large dials for "music genre" and "instrument category," enabling quick and easy program changes during a song or selection of vocoder variations.At the heart of this synthesizer/vocoder is the MMT (Multiple Modeling Technology) engine, equipped with two oscillators for sound generation. Oscillator 1 features seven oscillator algorithms, including formant waveforms such as human voice and PCM/DWGS waveforms for vintage keyboard and strings. It also supports techniques like cross modulation, unison, and VPM (Variable Phase Modulation). The 16-band vocoder simulates the iconic sounds of the past while also offering filter frequency shifting (Format Shift), or adjusting the level and pan of each band to dramatically alter the character of a sound. A gooseneck microphone is included for immediate use.The MicroKorg XL+ also features two master effects that utilize the effect engine from Korg's popular Kaoss Pad series. With a total of seventeen types, including delay, echo, a ring modulator, and grain shifter, you can synchronize time-based effects to MIDI clock, adding depth and dimension to your music.
