Become a master of sound design with the minilogue xd Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer. The minilogue xd is a sleek and stylish instrument that features a Prologue MULTI Engine, an expanded sequencer, 3X multi-effects, an X/Y joystick, and CV INs. This sophisticated synthesizer is a polyphonic analog synthesizer, capable of producing multiple sounds simultaneously. This sets it apart from other synthesizers that can only produce one sound at a time. The Prologue MULTI Engine, combined with the expanded sequencer and multi-effects, allows for a wide range of sound design possibilities. The minilogue xd also features a digital multi-engine, providing additional sound design possibilities. This third oscillator, equipped with three different types of sound generator (noise, VPM, and user slot), allows you to take advantage of a sonic character that's different than analog and use it at the same time as the analog engine, infinitely expanding the potential of hybrid sound design. The synthesizer comes loaded with 200 presets and a total of 500 programs can be saved. The high-quality digital effects use 32-bit floating point DSP processing, adding a finishing touch to its deep sound design platform. The three types of effects (modulation effects, reverb, and delay) can be used simultaneously, letting you choose from a wide range of variations including chorus, ensemble, warm tape delay, and a diverse variety of reverb. The minilogue xd features a customizable open environment, with 16 user oscillator slots and 16 user effect slots that you can customize. Oscillators and user programs that you've created with the SDK (Software Development Kit) can be loaded into the minilogue xd via the dedicated librarian software. The step sequencer provides 16 steps and supports both realtime recording and step recording. The joystick controls pitch bend and modulation depth, and a desired parameter can also be assigned to the up/down axis. The four voice modes (POLY, UNISON, CHORD, ARP / LATCH) offer further sound design possibilities. The minilogue xd is equipped with the micro tuning function, allowing you to individually adjust the pitch of each key. The organic EL display is now larger and also provides oscilloscope functionality for you to view sound as the electrical signal's waveform. This makes parameter changes visible in real time, giving you visual feedback that helps you understand how the synthesizer works. The minilogue xd is a fitting addition to the original groundbreaking minilogue, offering a new level of sound design and performance potential. What?s not to Love?!

Only reason I?m not giving 5 stars is because I was not told that one of the items would be on back order from the manufacturer for months. I still do not know when I will be receiving the other item I purchased, but the Minilogue XD is a sick synth.

Amazing Synth ! But other items on Back Order

I have been playing piano/keyboards for 50 years, but this is my first analog synth.  I am very pleased with it!  I had been looking at other models (Subsequent 37, Deepmind 12, and Minilogue).  The Moog is awesome, but a little pricey for me.  The Deepmind has a better price, but the signal path on it seems a little limiting and many of the controls are only accessible through menus (not on the front panel).  Then I ran into the the Minilogue.  This synth seemed to check all of the boxes for me.  The price was right, it is pure analog with all of the classical filtering options, polysynth: really right down my alley.  But wait, there's more!  In doing my research, I stumbled onto the Minilogue XD.  In addition to all of the features of the Minilogue, it throws in the ability to load in additional programs and effects.  Essentially, this thing is infinitely expandable.

So, after playing this synth for a couple of weeks, here are my initial impressions:

Intuitive layout with all of the essential controls at  your fingertips.
Well designed for live performance.
Tons of onboard space for programs and the Librarian software give you the ability to backup and manage them.
Good onboard sequencer capable of recording not only keystrokes but also parameter changes in real time or step mode.
Solidly made and seems sturdy enough.
Good connectivity options.
Stereo output.

Dislikes
Keys are smaller than standard.  Not a deal breaker but they take a little getting used to.
Sequencer only has 16 steps.  More would be better.
No MIDI through.  I have 2 other synths plus a drum machine to run.

Amazing Synth!

The XD looks and feels like an enhanced Minilogue. It shares the same design, the same four-voice polyphony, a similar control panel, and the same velocity-sensitive mini-keyboard. But when you delve beneath its surface, it becomes clear that the XD has far more in common with the Prologue than is immediately apparent.

Amazing Best Value Synth

This thing is awesome. It's taking a bit getting used to, as we're coming from Volcas and Pocket Operators, but the sound is superb and the sequencer is easy to use.

The Next Level

The perfect first analog synth. I love the multi engine and the effects combined with the great ergonomics of all the knobs. Keys also feel very good for mini keys.
