I purchased this speaker a few months ago and I have not been disappointed! I have my own small business and work in the field driving an older model pick up truck. The stereo system started crapping out and I didn't feel like spending $2000 to get a new one installed. I have a pair of R-51PM's in my office that I absolutely love so I decided to take a chance on the Detroit. I'm glad I did. It has more than enough volume in the truck or outside. The Klipsch clarity is legendary. I can take it with me on longer jobs and lock it up at the end of the day in my toolbox or in the shop. It's very portable.

The bass is surprisingly deep from such a compact unit. Equalizer from the Klipsch App works great. Loving this purchase. Highly recommended.

Excellent speaker, rich sonic depth and resonance. But not appreciating the lack of a power adapter. USB connectivity changes so frequently. Not good customer service to assume buyer has what's needed to enjoy the product out of the box.

This is my second Detroit portable and I hate to say it is not good. The first one was returned because when the music hit louder chorus lines power cuts down and you can barely hear it. I complained about this and they had me do a factory reset and that didn't work so they did replace it no issues what so ever and they sent it out before even getting the damaged one. Customer service was good a little slow through email but when I spoke to someone personally they got the ball rolling quicker. I received the new Detroit 2-3 weeks later and it worked great while I was at work not passed half way and it sound great and even loud until I finally used it for what I really bought it for. I had it at almost full blast, like 2-3 presses on the volume from full blast the battery died around three and a half hours. If you're going to state that the battery is going to last 20-24 hours at least say at what percentage it will last that long. My JBL Extreme 1 & 2 lasted 7-8 hours and sounded great until it died. Your speakers sound incredible I've always liked and have a lot of your products but I'm really disappointed in your portable speakers because your XXL Groove did the same just a tad better that lasts about 4-5 hours.

I bought this recently when it got on sale on Amazon. I was hesitant in the beginning because my experience with Klipsch wired earplugs (Which I got pretty cheap on discount) was not so pleasing. But this speaker surprised me totally. Background: I am a musician practicing Indian classical music. I play barrel drum as well as sing. I need a drop accompaniment to practice the my music. This accompaniment is a software on iPad that simulates (And samples) acoustic instruments. Requirement: I needed a smaller device which I can carry along to serve my musical needs. Reason for choosing Austin: I have an expensive B&O A1 which I find clumsy to carry around. I was thinking of Bose Micro. But they didn't mention about the driver size, wattage or frequency response. That makes me weary. I have used JBL clip and I know its limitations. High-ends are muffled, base is suppressed (And that could be justified in that speaker is in). Even though I had a bad experience with the earplugs, considering their legacy, I wanted to give it a try to a speaker by Klipsch. So I ordered Austin (And also ordered Nashville for someone else. That is good anyway). Observations: 1. I was pretty surprised with the loudness of the speaker. And sound texture reproduction is very true for its size. 2. The sound felt very natural. Acoustic music i.e vocals, strings and hand drums felt natural. I am not a sound guy or an audiophile but being a musician, I am pretty sensitive to the sound texture. Austin is true to the sound of the instrument (Vocal or hand percussions). 3. Interestingly, it has a sound-stage. 4. I played Indian Raag vocal music, Indian string instruments, Indian percussion instrument (The one that I play) Love Supreme by John Coltrane, Kind of blues by Miles Davis, John Fahey Acoustic finger style guitar, and acoustic blues. Except for jazz, where it is a band, the speaker sounded pretty natural. With Jazz too, it didn't sound like a tin box but didn't give that sound force which I would get on my Trangle Borea BR2-BT desktop speakers. Nonetheless, If I have nothing else, definitely I will listen to it on this speaker. 5. Final words: This definitely does better with acoustic sound textures. Performs well with Voice, strings and hand percussions. I believe it would do better even with slightly louder instruments such as drums, sax, trumpet as well as electric instruments. But I haven't tested that. This asserts my belief, never decide based on review but find things out based on the specs and what you will use it for . (This speaker is rated 4.4 and JBL clip is 4.7 on amazon). It may distort beyond 50% of the volume but below that it is enough loud.

I recently purchased the Detroit model. I'm extremely happy with it. It sounds great, it's plenty loud, and it feels like it is sturdy and well made. I'm looking forward to listening to the Detroit speaker when I'm grilling, golfing, in the garage, or by the pool. I would purchase this again.

At first when i got it, it was obviously on flat due to factory settings and i also was running an in app equalizer and at hearing it first i did not think it was what i was looking for. I then downloaded the app. Tuned both Klipsch and in music app equalizers to my taste. I truly enjoy the clear sound from the tweeters and deep bass from the woofers. Great purchase and i will continue to purchase Klipsch audio ??

NOT User Friendly. The speaker drops Bluetooth connection unexpectedly. Even if you are listening to the speaker and pause a song, or just go in and out of a store, you may need to reconnect it to the source.(phone) This thing is only useful if you don't pause or otherwise move away from it. Also, it shuts off way too early to (protect) the battery.

To me, this is the best Bluetooth speaker out there! I've compared it to the Bose and the JBL and to me the solidness of the sound is remarkable! Solid basses with no distortion and tweeking highs with crystal clarity! If your going to buy a Bluetooth speaker then I highly recommend this one! The Detroit! It's amazing!

I have 17 Bluetooth speakers in my collection from brands Sony, JBL, Soundcore,Altec Lansing,Sharp,W-King,LG, Tribit, Fluance and House of Marley so when I make this statement it's from experience and ownership. The Klipsch Detroit has taken the number one position for my best Bluetooth speaker, the sound quality and the scale of the sound is remarkable for such a compact speaker it's simply incredible, The sound stage and imaging are very impressive, I can't believe all that sound is coming from such a compact speaker but it's there with definition and authority. The high frequencies and the mid-range are detailed refined with no harshness or coloration and the bass is dynamic and quick and really well controlled without any distortion, this is really a surprise and unexpected for such a small speaker, Klipsch has produced One of the finest Bluetooth speakers ever made, I know that's a bold statement but if you buy one and when you hear it, I'm more than confident you will agree... The speaker is spectacular!!
