These things are incredible. Much better bass than the smaller bookshelf speakers. I'm using these for my primary TV speakers and they make my vinyl collection sound much better. Great deal, grab a set before they sell out. Don't know why these aren't manufactured any more.

My review might be a bit unfair. Further down is why I say this. Quick backstory. I had strayed away from tower speakers since the mid 2000's and liked the simple look of sound bars. Even though the wife and I love music we were both working a lot. If not working we were going out a lot and of course going to see live music. Jamming music at home become a rarity. Then COVID hit and immediately were so disappointed try to listen to good music at home. No sound bar can do what big speakers can do, and Klipsch is one of a few that do it best, so I started research and shopping. I purchased the Yamaha RX-A880 for a good deal along with some mid range Klipsch book shelf speakers for rears and center channel (yes, I used two book shelf Klipsch for center channels since the real center channel I wanted was far too expensive during this time. I also purchased the Klipsch R-120SW powered sub. Then, the best deal of all, directly from Klipsch, I ordered these R-28PF on sale at a great price! I had a surprise at first and thought I would have to call customer service. These speakers work in harmony where one has the Amp built in and, via a nice proprietary cable, feeds powered sound to the other. I receive two separate boxes and they both were the powered units. I was puzzled at first since I thought I research things wrong and they both maybe were supposed to have amps built in but no, they were just both right speakers (or lefts, since the main one can be in either side). I can tell you that I was almost not going to chose powered speakers because I was going old skool and "semi pro" with a good receiver and no need for self powered speakers. The reason I chose these was the great price, the beautiful look and being able to stream phone via Bluetooth directly to these speakers if I didn't want to go all out and turn on the TV with all the speakers. The latter has never been utilized since I just can't listen to music without the full sound of 6 speakers with a kicking sub. So when these two powered units showed up I had almost called customer service to complain and have them send me the correct non powered unit. Then I thought, the internal amp would be working half as hard powering only one tower each so this might not be a bad thing. They both power on by them selves when they receive sound, they both work off the same remote and they both sounded amazing! My only concern was that in the old?old days, it was bad for an amp to run only one channel when designed for two. After a lot of research I found this to be a thing of the last and should have no issue. I can attest after 4 years of running these speakers hard on only one channel each, that there has never been any amp issues. I actually thought about running the proprietary cable to some bookshelf speakers to add to the sound but the entries sound is just right as is, especially after I purchased a real center channel speaker. I still could not afford the one I wanted so went with a used mid range one but what a difference a good center channel makes. So the maybe the sound on these are really no better than of if I had the proper non powered unit or maybe there is a bit of unfair advantage over having two powered versions of these units. Either way they sound amazing and are perfect for our medium size living room in concert with all the other speakers. Like I said, I never run these solo as planned so I don't feed much bass through them but I've read much reviews that they do have excellent bass response as well. Like most new speakers and for sure Klipsch, you do actually have to break them in. So don't judge them right out of the box. The Tractrix horn tweeters are very strong and can be too much for some ears but it's not a huge difference over other tweeters and the EQ can certainly be adjusted to tone them down. Like all good sound systems, you have to adjust volume levels and EQ for the room and for your ears. Of course, this is why soundbar speakers became popular because they a central point speakers that don't need much adjustment but you will never have the sound out of muti speaker setup.

The components within the preamp/Amp are hard to replace and almost would be easier to buy another R) speaker(Amp located in R speaker) than to figure out what component has failed. Good luck finding an amp/preamp to replace. I would not buy these particular speakers again. I would upgrade to a better speaker within the brand or upgrade brands altogether. Thonet and Vander is what I upgraded from and now that I'm waiting on my R-28PF Amp to be fixed, I have gone back to my Thonet and Vander Hoch 2.0(non Bluetooth) and have missed the quality of them. Therefore I do not recommend these speakers, but will use them for their size and value.

I bought these from Adorama in one of their common sales. $450/pair shipped. I wasn't too impressed at first, but after some tweaking of the source, got them dialed in and they were fantastic for the price. Loud, powerful and clear. I used these heavily for 3 years and almost to the month, the amp failed. I have no idea if it's a fuse, or something more serious. I see some repair type videos but don't know if I have the ability to do that. Great sound, poor longevity.

Not happy. Got this a couple of weeks ago and still can't get it to link to Firecube consistently! It disconnected itself after playing for random amounts of time. Klipsch USED to be good.

I purchased these speakers to replace a 20+ year old Bose A/V speaker system. At $800 it was more than a thousand dollars less than I had anticipated spending on speakers and an A/V receiver. After setting them up and connecting them with an optical audio cable from my LG OLED TV, I thought they sounded O.K... However, after experimenting with speaker placement I found the speaker?s sweet spot in my room, and I was thrilled. For music listening, the speakers sound great offering wonderful speaker imaging and tonal balance. As with all speakers, placement is key. I found that positioning the speakers away from the back and side walls and toeing them in to towards the room center achieved the most neutral sound and the best speaker imaging. The speakers sound great while watching movies offering clear dialogue and punch when needed without adding a sub-woofer. The speakers are reasonably attractive although a veneered wood look would have been a plus. The only negative is that the speaker has been discontinued and will soon be hard to find. If you are looking for a system for both music and to serve as an A/V sound system, I would recommend you grab a set of these while the are available.

I love these speakers, I already have Klipsch R-26PF and these are bigger and sound quality is better than R-26PF R-28PF are louder and have more bass, and they're 20 Lbs. heavier. These speakers does not require an amplifier, they're portable. I would buy them again. Great Speakers!

I got these to replace a pair of old JBL L7s without realizing they do not have banana jacks to connect to my Onkyo receiver. I connected these speakers to my TV using the fiber optic input to the speakers and the sound is great.

These arrived promptly from Adorama via UPS undamaged.I love the simplicity of one heavy duty 4 pin cable(16 foot) to the unpowered speaker.I haven't turned them up in the 2 weeks of ownership, but the clarity is OUTSTANDING at lower volumes.I added the Klipsch 12 inch sub for more low end.The remote is top notch and responsive. This setup really has it all for inputs,so happy with this purchase from Adorama, and kudo's to Klipsch for such a great idea.

This review is for the Klipsh R-28PF speakers. I bought these speakers from Adorama since they have a special sale going on, it was a bargain! I didn't have to think twice because I desperately needed powered speakers to put into my main living room. I was surprised how quick this came from New Jersey/New York to California, even though I didn't pay extra for shipping they came in within a week of ordering. The box as you can see came damaged however, there is no issue with the content visually. These speakers sound great, however from my observation these speakers with its integrated amplifier does not sound as good as my other floorstanding Klipsch (R-820F) speakers mated to a dedicated amplifier. They can be played loud and the middle sound good and highs are crisp. However, I believe these can sound better obviously if you match it with a separate amplifier. As it they are great. I replaced the feet as I find them ugly, sort of like a rocketship. I stole the feet from my dead Denon amp and put them in this speaker. All in all this was a great purchase and a steal of a price from Adorama. Don't hesitate ordering from them as their customer service is top notch! I ordered a separate Jamo S809 speakers that came with physical damage and they are in the process of sending me a replacement.

These speakers are very nice, look and sound amazing. Sounds great at low volume, and will go louder than you need them to, with amazing bass and great high response.

I had the Klipsch R-26PF prior to purchasing Klipsch R-28PF. I was happy with those too and always wanted have the R-28PF's for even better sound but they were discontinued. For me the selling point was the fact that these speakers are self powered, meaning no need to spend extra money for an amplifier, no need to deal with cables and one less remote control is always nice. I use these speaker while watching tv 80% of the time and listening to music 20% of the time. I have tried different soundbars, including ones that cost double the price of these R-28PF's and didn't like any of them. These speakers sound much better. They look better too. For stronger base I would highly recommend getting a subwoofer. I bought a 12" Klipsch Subwoofer. They talk to each other really well. The sound is massaging my ears. Sound quality is great for the money spent. I wish Klipsch could talk to my LG TV or Apple TV so that I wouldn't need to use Klipsch's remote to control the volume. The place where the Klipsch's remote catches the signal is towards the bottom part of right speaker. If it was on the top or if the remote was a bluetooth instead of an RF it would be better. These are my only complaints but the rest is excellent.

Hands down the best Bluetooth speakers you can buy for the price. Don't have to worry about an Amp or Receiver - just plugged them in and started playing music from my phone. The sound is what you expect from Klipsch - Personally, my favorite by far. Crisp highs and super bass. Listen to them daily.

they are so LOUD!! I love them. Tons of Bass and great finer details. My whole house is equipped with Klipsch reference series speakers from my gym, to my office and game room all the way out to the patio. These 2 powered towers went in my gym to amplify the Peloton bike and tread and there are zero regrets with that purchase.

These powered speakers by Klipsch must have had issues with sales or reviews or why else would they be "discontinued". I have now bought two pair and they sound excellent in my shop / fitness building. They are probably not what you'd want next to your TV in your living room but are perfect for a large room. I did add a Klipsch sub.

Get these if there are any left! They sound great in an open room and are plenty loud. Bluetooth signal is strong all the way outside and all you need is a y-splitter for two subs. Having the receiver built in is nice if you don?t really want to see it on a shelf or something and don?t want surround sound.

I purchased these speakers to replace RP 600's that were overwhelmed in my large listening area. I could not be more pleased with their performance. The aluminum tweeters are perfectly tuned to the bass and midrange woofers. Klipsch must have had jazz and classical live performance in mind during development, as it sounds and feels liike piano and cymbals are 10 feet away. These also handle vocals quite easily, especially male singers. These speakers are efficient and effective whether played as background music or blasting Gov't Mule till the floor shakes. No need for a sub with these floor standers. If you have a large room and want a stereo to fill it with music, these will not disappoint.

I have wanted a pair of these ever since i first saw them, i wanted something without a receiver so there are fewer wires running across the room. i have the pro media 2.1 for my computer and the sound is fantastic. i am really glad i bought these the sound is amazing from these speakers i bought a wireless sub too just because i like a lot of bass but really don't need it plenty from the speakers alone. the Bluetooth works seamlessly and took about 20 min to set up and start playing and wish i would have bought sooner.

Get these babies before they are sold out! Because they ARE actually discontinued (to my greatest disbelief!) Anyway so this is coming from someone who used mostly headphones and occasionally an antique 90-s set of Altec Lansing computer speakers to listen to his music until finally deciding to upgrade. My overall criteria for the search was probably something like this: - definitely well under $1000 - just 2 speakers or 2 speakers and a sub (no 5.1 or 7.1) - sounds as good as possible - has ...

These will blow away anything toy have in a 5.1
By Michael W.
These speakers will blow away anything you have in a 5.1 speaker configuration. Only negative is they do not play through your hdmi receiver and smart tv. Used with bluetooth through my computer and hdmi 60" TV and Onkyo receiver then there is no problem. But the remote controls the sound because they are preamp speakers. That leaves my Bose satellite speakers and center speaker mute. Still figuring how to add both. Klipsch tech support was no help.
