Because of its innovative design and high-quality construction, the FC-5 Protocol Translator and Controller from Kramer Electronics is an indispensable tool for professionals in the audio and video industry. This durable and reliable device is engineered to make an RS-232 controlled machine compatible with a wide range of other RS-232 based products, including both Kramer Electronics and non-Kramer Electronics items. This user-friendly unit comes pre-configured with two translation drivers, Kramer Electronics Protocol 2000 and Sierra Video Systems protocol to Kramer Electronics Protocol 2000. This makes it an ideal solution for managing a variety of RS-232 equipment such as screens, projectors, lights, and security gates through contact closure switches. The FC-5 Protocol Translator and Controller boasts multiple control connections, including two RS-232 COM ports, eleven remote contact closure pins, and two relay connections. This versatility ensures seamless integration and adaptability in various professional setups. The included PC-based software program further enhances its functionality by allowing users to build translation tables and define associations between codes for the COM ports, relays, and contact closures. The device can operate between four translation tables, selected via dip switches, and each table can include up to 256 translation commands. As part of the esteemed Kramer Electronics TOOLS family of products, up to three of these units can be conveniently mounted side by side in 1U of a 19" standard equipment rack, making it a space-efficient addition to any professional audio and video setup.
