I am not a expert on the different optical variations but the clarity is outstanding,  best that I have viewed. The 8.5 x 44 is different from the norm but is a great advantage. The optics is up there with the big three.

High end binocular at a mid range price

Use: birding
To those who actually use  binoculars rather than endlessly talk about them in chat rooms, there are no relevant optical difference between this binocular and "the big three". 
Mechanics / ergonomics is a personal choice. I thought they were great.
 However.
I returned them simply because they do not have a tripod mount.
