An advanced and high-tech solution for 4K/HD live production, the Sony PWS-4500 live server system is a key component of Sony's next-generation IP technology. This sophisticated system integrates all the features of the PWS-4400, including XAVC recording capabilities for both 4K and HD, Avid DNxHD, flexible I/O configurations, and high frame rate (HFR) recording capability.
The PWS-4500 takes it a step further by adding IP interfaces, a file sharing function known as Share Play, and a redundant power supply for increased reliability. This innovative system offers flexible configuration options with various optional accessories, allowing it to serve as a cost-effective HD production recorder or a full-featured slow replay server supporting both 4K and HD formats and both SDI and IP interfaces, depending on user requirements.
The PWS-4500 system comprises four key products: the PWS-4500 Multi Port AV Storage Unit, the PWSK-4403 USB Control Device, the PWS-100PR1 Production Control Station, and the PWS-100MG1 Media Gateway Station. Additional option boards and software can be installed as per user requirements, enhancing the system's versatility.
The PWS-4500 is a 4K/HD XAVC server with IP interfaces, enabling IP live production for 4K/HD in combination with the BPU-4500 Baseband Processor Unit. It also features a file sharing function via 10G networking, allowing for efficient workflow by enabling file viewing and sharing among servers without the need for push/pull file transfers.
The server supports the efficient XAVC codec and offers the option of Avid DNxHD. In 4K workflows, the unit generates a 4K XAVC MXF file that can be easily managed in non-linear editing systems. The PWS-4500 also supports high frame rate (HFR) recordings in HD at 3x or 8x slow motion and in 4K 2x with the HDC-4300 system camera, HD 4x or 6x with the PMW-F55, and 4K 2x with the F65.
With a large internal storage capacity of 2TB as standard, the PWS-4500 can be expanded up to 8TB by adding the PWSK-4401 Internal Memory Array. This state-of-the-art system supports a variety of media, including HDD, Optical Disc Archive, SXS card, and Professional Disc, making it an ideal solution for managing large amounts of data in a network environment.
