To get the best prints possible from your printer, it’s important to consider the type and quality of the printer paper. While most printers can print on just about any paper, if you’re concerned at all about the details, the right paper can really make your work pop.

Choose between glossy and matte, different weights, and if you need the flexibility, different sizes. Adorama stocks printer paper and media from brands like Canon and Epson for all your printing needs, regardless of your printer brand.

Matte vs glossy printer paper

One of the main differences in photo printer paper is glossy vs matte. Glossy has a bright, shiny look that creates professional photo prints. Matte has a flatter look to it that’s less shiny, and works better if there’s lots of text on the page in addition to images.

In many ways, matte vs glossy is an aesthetic choice. Some people prefer the more traditional photo look of glossy prints, while others like the matte style best. If you’re not sure, and you’re printing out photos for framing, glossy is the more common choice.

Specialty paper and media

If you need something beyond regular photo printer paper, Adorama has specialty options, too. These include transparency and projector films, printer paper packs for portable and mini printers, and special backlight film. If you’re looking to decorate clothing or your home with photos, you can also find iron-on transfer paper, re-stickable and magnetic photo paper, and even adhesive vinyl media for signs.

Image protective coating

Most color prints will fade over time. To make them last longer, consider an image-protective coating. These varnishes, many of which are water-based, can enhance the printed colors, as well as improve their resistance to fading.

You may also want to pick up a roller and tray, as applying the varnish to printed photos is similar to applying it to furniture, just on a much smaller scale. Additionally, there are image protective coatings available in spray-on form
