Home Theater Speakers
To get the best sound when watching movies and TV, listening to music, and playing video games, you may want to put a little extra thought into sourcing high-quality speakers. Your TV’s built-in speakers are incapable of fully reproducing all the frequencies necessary for a compelling experience. Home theater speakers are typically higher-performing devices that can make any living room into a real home cinema. Browse Adorama’s collection of Home Theater Speakers from brands like Jamo, Klipsch, Bose and more.
Floor standing speakers
Floor standing models are the largest variety of speakers. As their name suggests, they stand on the floor by themselves. They can produce compelling sound with clear treble and rumbling bass, but at the cost of size and convenience. You don’t need floor standing speakers for a great home theater, but they’re often a solid high-performance option.
Bookshelf home theater speakers
The next size down are called bookshelf speakers. You don’t need to actually put them on a bookshelf, but the idea is that they could fit there. For the best sound, these should be mounted on speaker stands, but in a pinch you can place them just about anywhere. Think of them as the top portion of a floor standing speaker. They’re usually not able to reproduce the lowest bass notes, so if you want that, you’ll need a subwoofer.
Subwoofers for extra thump
These squat, boxy home theater speakers only reproduce the lowest of the low bass notes. They can generally go anywhere in a room because low bass notes are, for the most part, omni-directional. Subwoofers give movie explosions their punch and bass guitars their weight. They’re crucial for just about all great-sounding home theaters.
Soundbars for budget-friendly sound
If you don’t have the space for floor or bookshelf speakers, consider a soundbar. These sit below your TV, and offer far better sound quality than any modern TV is capable of on its own. They’re relatively small and often inexpensive, but can still make a movie more engaging. If you’ve ever needed to turn up the volume on your TV just to understand what a character says, a soundbar may solve that problem for you with its better clarity and fidelity.
In-wall & in-ceiling speakers
If your room or decor dictates that traditional speakers wouldn’t fit or that they’d be an eyesore, in-wall and in-ceiling speakers let you hide the speakers.
Outdoor speakers
Waterproof and water-resistant outdoor speakers let you take the party outside, as long as the temperature and weather allows.
