Q&A

Questions & Answers

Shopper : Is this correct for white balanceon DSLRs? I'm new to dslrs and might buy a Nikon. So I heard that you need an 18% gray card. Is this 18%? Also is it easy to set up custom white balance?CAROL-ANN H : Yes. The white balance card is for DSLR's. You will need to check your camera directions to see how to use it. It's not hard.TYLER J : This is not an 18% gray card. For digital cameras I would recommend a Digital Gray Card. Also, depending on your DSLR model, there should be presets for saving custom white balance settings. Hope this helps. CARLOS M : 1- This product worked great with my Canon T2i. 2- This is not 18% Gray, it is white. 3- Don't know on Nikon, on my camera you take a picture of the card, and then select a menu option that calculates the white balance from this picture.DAMIAN M : This is a white card. 18% gray cards are gray. Either will work, although gray cards are better for exposure metering.DANTE J : Yes, its the correct white balance. There are cards that have 3 colors on it ( white, 18% gray and black ). This card is only white not 18% gray. Yes, its easy to set white balance. I shoot with a canon.JUDY W : Gray works well too. Just something in the frame that is white or neutral so that you go go back and change the white balance if needed in Post processing. Setting up the custom white balance depends on the model. If you have editing software you can do it afterwards as long as you have a neutral color to base it off of.
CRAIG L : What are the dementions? Whats it made of? Cardboard or plastic.CAROL-ANN H : The White Balance Card is 6inches by 9 inches and made of heavy plastic. It's big enough to fill your lens. Really nice! Carol-AnnMARK A : Sturdy plastic.LEE H : It's made of plastic.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?ANGELA C : I chose this item to help WB underwaterIvens D : I do white balance calibrations for photo and video.RICHARD B : I am hoping to experiment more with custom white balance on work camera. I'm hoping this is a more durable option for travel.GREGORY E : price and size, I want something easy to packRUSSELL L : I do a lot of indoor architectural photography with multiple light sources. Getting the right white balance can be difficult.DAWN B : Already have one. Replacing.ROBERT A : Love that this is sturdy, good size for video and has a cable so that I can hang it off the camera until I need it.

Buy something else

Bought in the store. Two.came up though I only asked for one. One had a tear in the wrapper and a scratch. The other looked ok but dusty. Back home when I removed it from the plastic wrap I found a permanent discoloration on the card, a series of lines that seems to have been a stain from the black cord, as if it had been laying around for such a long time that it transfers some of the cords dye into the card. That would explain the dust. So this was a dissapoint and waste of money. A sheet of white paper is Just as useful.

Easy to use White Balance

White balance reference that is easy to carry in my backpack. Also use it in a studio to photograph nudes and flowers, but not together. Great for reflected light.

Verry Useful Accessory

I use the card for setting W/B on my video cameras both in the studio and in the field. Very convenient and useful accessory. I am considering buying another in the future, for my field kit.
