What Are Par Cans?

Par cans, also referred to as PAR lights, are popular theatrical lighting fixtures. The name “par” is an abbreviation for Parabolic Aluminized Reflector, though most modern par cans actually use LED technology so they don’t need reflectors. Par cans are traditionally known for throwing a wide beam of light.
