This is the type of light I needed, so I'm glad I bought it. I haven't had the chance to use it aside from test shots on my cluttered desk, but it works great, does exactly what I expected it to do, and it will get plenty of use in my macro photography. My daughter recently had a baby, so I plan on blinding the baby a little bit with some photos and this light will be helpful. If you're looking for a reasonably priced ring light, this is pretty good. You can have it on full ring or one-side (either side is optional). It comes with little adapters for the lenses so you can use it on almost any lens. (I've used it on my macro lens and my kit lens so far). It is battery powered, but it also has a power cord if you need it (and the power switch has a battery option and the electrical option). Very easy to use.

It does provide an even amount of light for macroscopic photography. It is actually too bright in some cases and has to be compensated for in the camera. I wish it had dimming capabilities. The ability to turn off either half of the circle might offer some options in this area, but still has the same intensity.

The battery compartment will not open. I’ve tried, my husband tried. It just doesn’t work. Too much trouble yo send it back.
