The little Canon HV-20 HD camcorder has a real problem: the omnidirectional built-in mics pic up EVERYTHING, including the zoom motors and the breathing of the videographer! This mic solves that problem by shifting the sound pickup ratio to about 90/10 toward the front of the camera, when the mic is attached to the advance accessory shoe. Great for nature shooting (picks up those birdie tweets!), or candid stuff where you cannot attach a wireless setup to the subject.
