If one has to use a bridge/hub, it might as well be this one. The Hue Bridge was easy to setup and connect with the Hue app, and connecting new devices to it is fast with just a push of the big button on top.

We just built a new home and did the backyard this year. I decided I wanted all my trees to light up with spots so I ran power throughout the garden and yard. After searching high and low for spots, i came across the Philips hue lily's. So, the price is a bit of a sticker shock and you need to buy the HUE bridge in order for the system to work. so, i started with 1 box and installed them in the yard. 1st, i could not get them to connect. I had to drag the HUE bridge close to the window for it to connect to the lights. So, to fix the issue i bought a "white" bulb and put a small lamp between the bridge and the lily lights and snap - it all connected. After the long, slow updates to all of the lights I was ready to go and let me tell you, these lights do not disappoint! some 11 million color combinations and different light scenes to choose from. it can turn the lights on when you come home, there are timers and even apps to sync the lights with music, the weather or to mimic fireworks. So, I had to buy 3 more box's (4 box's, 12 lights in all) to get my whole yard lit up and I couldn't be happier with them! Ok, a bit happier if the apps didn't cost extra...after spending $1,500 on lights it would be nice for some freebies.
