Fits between the camera and lens to enable reverse-mounting of lenses. It is an inexpensive means of obtaining a relatively high reproduction ratio.  The BR-2A also increases the working distance for normal or wideangle lenses.  The BR-2A is compatible with lenses that have a 52mm front attachment size.

solid adaptor

I attended a workshop on Macro. At the time I didn't own a Macro lens so I purchased a BR-2A 52mm lens reversing ring and a BR-3 adaptor. This enabled me to reverse mount my prime 35 mm lens and participate in the macro class. It was very cumbersome to use but it worked. Since then I have purchased a 100mm F2.8 Macro Lens so I don't see me using the reversing ring again, but you never know. My camera body is a Nikon D7100.

Works perfectly and turns my wide angle Nikkor with a 52mm filter thread into a nice, inexpensive micro lens.  The lens fits the adapter and camera securely, and with reasonable attention, it won't drop off.  Recommend highly.  I adjust the focus by moving the camera rather than by rotating the focus ring, and I use Nikon's R1C1 lighting kit which provides, with the close-up adapters, a bright even light over the subject.

Seems to be a bit thick on the camera side, it will not turn until it clicks in on a D610. Other than that, it works as it should.

I use with a 50mm lens for macro photos of bugs.  it works smoothly to put on and off.  Love the comments from people that something is wrong with the lens on my camera LOL.

Super solid build, and attached to the front of my 50mm with no difficulty.  Quality of the reverse lens macro shots were excellent.  If you want to experiment with macro w/o paying a small fortune for the lens - I highly recommend this product!

I use it to flip my Nikkor 50 for macro work. For the money it is a great tool! 4 inches from lens seems to be perfect focus. Use a tripod and have your lens set to f22. So. Much. Fun.

I was worried that this was just a gimmick, but I am sold on this as a very inexpensive macro setup.

Best Money Spent On Gear This Year

This is an inexpensive way to get good macros on a Nikon. It produces surprisingly good results (see my images)

It's very well made and I am not concerned that my reversed lens will fall off anytime while I am making the shot.

You do suffer from the issue of loosing considerable f-stops of light (that's true even if you use bellows), but nothing that a steady hand, tripod or long exposure can't fix.

It mount easily and securely on both the body and lens.  The ring is well-made.

Great magnification on short lenses. Be sure that you have an aperture ring on your lens, otherwise you won't be able to adjust the aperture easily.

The BR-2A feels solid and durable, but similar non-brand products can be found a lot cheaper.

I bought this specifically to mount on my 50mm f/1.8 nikkor.  It takes a little getting used to at first since the working distance is less than a few inches and you MUST use a flash if you are in any environment short of a sunny day.  The images turn out great with a large depth of field (>f16).  The only drawback of it that cannot be helped if using a prime is the lack of focus adjustment.  With a real macro, you can control how far away your subject is and focus on it, but with the reversal ring, you can only crop your shot at a single magnification.  Also, if you screw the ring on tight enough (but not too tight!) to the lens, you will not have any issues with it falling off.

Cheap and easy way to experiment with macro photography if you already have a 50mm lens.

Everything is manual, focus is challenging, and your lens is exposed, but it works as designed.

The BR2A screws into the lens without any problem but it does not lock in to the camera body and the lens wants to fall off the camera when I try to focus or change the aperture.

This is the Nikon ring & I am using a Nikon D40x & Nikon lens.  It will not recognize that a lens is attached.  Maybe it's operator error but I can't get it to work.

Haven't got it to work right yet

This has been a terrific solution for lens lust on a budget.  The challenge of all "M" shooting (including focus by movement) is one that only adds to the enjoyment and pure fun of reversing the outstanding and versatile 50mm lens.  I enjoy my macro shoots (attempts anyway) each time I go out with the 50mm reversed with this ring.  It is solid, and I don't worry about losing the lens off my camera.  It is just too much fun.
