I always like to have a lens hood for lenses I buy, but it's not always easy to find the one you want when the lens is somewhat older. I also like to have an OEM product rather than a generic knock-off. The lens hood is well-made and fits perfectly on my Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.8 Di III as you would expect. It clicks solidly into place and does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Expensive compared to some of the knockoff brands, but it fits perfectly, locks on securely and should last forever.

It?s a lens hood. Works as it should, but it?s not all that secure. This is the second one I?ve had to replace as they tend to work loose and fall off at the least opportune times.

I never thought I'd bother leaving a review for a lens hood, but I had an interesting day: earlier I was coming home from a hike, and for some reason, I put my camera on the roof of my car. I never put anything on the roof of a car. I always put things on my windshield in front of the driver's seat so that if I forget them, I see them when I sit down. But today I slipped up... and of course a little while later as I was taking a turn, the camera tumbled off the roof and onto the pavement. Fortunately there were no other cars nearby, so I stopped, jumped out, and frantically gathered the bits. The lens was still attached to the body, but there were visible grind marks on the body and the UV filter, the hood was broken and loosely hanging around the lens down near the mount, and the lens cap, SD card, and a chunk of the lens hood had all shot off a few meters away in different directions. But to my astonishment, the important parts work fine. The body survived with only moderate cosmetic damage, and the lens seems to have taken no damage at all. Even the UV filter is salvageable, although I need to deburr it a bit. From inside the car, it looked like the camera landed on the hood first. When a single-hit climbing helmet or hardhat takes an impact, it cracks as it deforms, which absorbs a surprising amount of energy. A well-made lens hood will behave similarly, and that is exactly what this one did. The camera also mostly skidded along the pavement instead of tumbling a lot or just stopping dead. By all rights my equipment should be done for, but I got lucky, and Tamron's build quality is clearly excellent. I am on Adorama's site right now to order a replacement hood, and I'm paying up for the legit one. I won't hesitate to buy another lens or other accessory with Tamron's name on it.

It took me three calls to get this resolved, but the Tamron lens hood that was sent this time fit the lens perfectly. The last of the for Adorama Reps with whom I spoke over the past year, understood the size of our lens and the hood sizes. Paid twice, finally got what we needed.

Functionally, it works fine. Nothing special. Materials are fairly sturdy and it doesn’t darken corners at all in photos. I wish Tamron would’ve included a lock button on this hood like the 24-70 G2 offering. The reason for the down-rate is the fact that they wear out quickly. If you have to buy a backup hood for your lens, or are buying one to put on a used lens, don’t be in the habit of removing it or reversing it if you don’t have to be, or else you’re ordering another one in a few months.

Works well, secure lock on fit, Nice to have on sunny days as glare with the 28-200 can be extreme.

It really doesn’t fit the lens well. It does what it’s supposed to do but I have to be careful it doesn’t fall off. I would not recommend this...would not buy again

This lens hood saved my lens. Amateur move on my part by leaving the camera unattended for 1 second and it fell over lens first - this lens hood took the majority of the blow and the lens ended up being fine. Always keep a lens hood on your lenses.
