I got this lens first, and for this lens, I bought the M9 which is my first M camera. I have 135mm Nikon D800E. But this is different one. It is amazing lens and have special photo look, philosophy feeling......I can't clearly say what it is like until you can own this by youself.

I bought this lens from Adorama in March 2010 after months of waiting. Unfortunately, the first sample was defective right out of the box. The aperture simply locked up between F/.95 and F/1.4. I called Adorama, they could not exchange it as the lens is very difficult to get. So, I called Leica and to my surprise they sent me another lens. Well, this lens had an uneven focus from firm to soft and it had "lens wobble." I was shocked that Leica could produce and ship out defective lenses that cost [$] So, finally after several phone calls they replaced the lens, and sent me another copy which was actually a newer production run. Finally, a good sample..... Now, after all that aggravation I can tell you that the lens is a very unique picture taking optic. You can always tell an image taken from a Noctilux apart from all other lenses. This Asph version has a painty look, but is also sharp at the same time. I can't explain it any other way. However, It has a lot of vignetting at F/.95 which I actually like. CA is a problem as well at the wider apertures. This lens is not perfect by any means, if you want almost perfect" then get the 50mm Summilux Asph. But if you want a unique look all in its own, then this is it.

I had been a SLR user for over a decade and had been thru various 35's & digitals and then the reviews of the M9 & 0.95 got to me.It was the first no compromise camera and the glass is unreal. Super.Waited 6 months on order and finally got it, really happy but wasn't getting good shots, was blaming myself for sometime, blaming the birds / kids for moving too soon :-) , bought a 1.4 x magnifier too as I thought that might help, but the results were out of focus, always. Till I compensated by turning the lens a bit more to as if to focus a little bit farther. Worked but on & off. Found the real reason when on infinity the 2 images would never overlap and ofcourse the results were not good.I was first using it for plants and I got if not the center stem then the adjoining one would be in focus, and I never realized till the incident above.Wrote to the dealer who promptly put me in touch with the manufacturer, sent the camera & the lens, wrote to them about the issues. The repairs were done at full speed, got it back in a week. They never told me wether it was the camera or the lens, but they did the job.Havent been happier since, I get the best best best bokeh possible. Expensive yes, but what the he**.I dont like lugging around a flash, not for aesthetic reasons alone, but I never got anything memorable with a flash and am not a studio lighting expert either.Has given me very memorable shots of wilderness, holidays, birthdays.Ofcourse I do miss the SLR's ability to autofocus but the quality of the .95 compensates, by a huge margin.

I purchased this lens, from Adorama; and, received it several months ago. This lens is an excellent available light lens, and I initially used it as one of my lenses with the Leica M8.2. Now, on my Leica M9 (also, purchased from Adorama), this has become my preferred standard use lens.

Can Be Ones Only Lens For The Leica M9
By BRJR
I purchased this lens, from Adorama; and, received it several months ago. This lens is an excellent available light lens, and I initially used it as one of my lenses with the Leica M8.2. Now, on my Leica M9 (also, purchased from Adorama), this has become my preferred standard use lens.
You can unlock the full potential of your photography with the Leica 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux-M Aspherical Lens in Black. This lens is a true marvel of engineering, offering an incredibly shallow depth of field when set at open aperture, transforming every shot into a detailed masterpiece. The precision and image quality of this lens often surpasses that of the renowned Leica SUMMILUX-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH, particularly when the lens is slightly stopped down.
Venture beyond the ordinary with this lens, a true masterpiece in available light photography. Even in low-light conditions, such as the soft glow of a single candle, this lens crafts images that push the boundaries of visual perception, thanks to its f/0.95 aperture.
The Leica 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux-M Aspherical Lens features a unique "floating element" within its design. This innovative feature ensures that regardless of your subject's proximity, the image quality remains pristine. This lens has been meticulously designed to dramatically reduce vignetting and distortion, especially when compared to the 50mm f/1.
Achieve unparalleled closeness with your subjects, as this lens offers a remarkable focus distance of just 2.3"/70 cm. The 10 diaphragm blades ensure a smooth bokeh and depth transition, while the lens itself remains lightweight at just 9.9 oz/280g. With a lens speed that has been optimized without enlarging its form, it comfortably takes the crown in its category.
The lens also retains the unique rendering attributes of the iconic 50 mm f/1, particularly prominent when used at full aperture. Its performance, when slightly adjusted in aperture, even rivals the benchmarks set by the LEICA SUMMILUX-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH. For those keen on adding layers to their creativity, the inclusion of a special filter adapter makes it possible to utilize regular polarizing filters of size E82.
Experience the art of photography with the Leica 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux-M Aspherical Lens. With this lens, you're not just capturing moments; you're creating them.
