I tried out the tg tracker and the video. Quality at FHD is not good and lower resolution is not either. I compared it to a lower resolution 1080p video shot on my iPhone XS and the video quality on my phone was much clearer. Even at 720p on the phone is clearer than FHD on the tg tracker. I promptly returned it for a refund.

What a cool camera! Small & heavy duty and can be used underwater! Without a case! I cannot wait to use this while filming & photographing fish and other sea life. And I’ll be able to shoot & take more with the storage memory being higher than my digital camera I used previously.

A truly amazing camera with tons of features - the underwater footage is outstanding - crisp and clear. These are on sale and the price is great- I use mine to teach children about capturing video and the quality is great. My only complaint is about the lens protector - that needs to be looked at as it is problematic and scratches easily or just falls off . Never had any issue with the underwater cover.

Bought this as an action cam for my motorcycle riding. Chose this over other brands because of image stabilization. I am happy about image quality. Hope it was less bulky. But having shockproof camera gives me a peace of mind.

Fantastic pocket video camera that is super easy to use with spectacular results. So small it fits into your pocket and is super stealth when recording. Underwater use was to much fun. Highly recommended!

To be clear. I like the camera, I think it's a touch too bulky, but it's kind of nice. The software is it's biggest failure. The people who complain about the zoom forget it's an action camera before anything else; point, shoot and forget about it. Except with activities like diving or hiking, there are no few reasons you need it to zoom. Really the Tracker's biggest flaw is the software. Only one App reads the data it records, it's only available on mobile devices, and I can't chose what data to select or where to put it. Making it worse, the wifi that you use to download the videos to your phone can't support 4k; you take a video in 4k, it drops to 1080p on your phone, and you overlay what ever random data the camera picks up. What's the point of it?

I bought this camera to take on a family trip. I spent time with the retailer I bought it from going over all the functions and getting it set up. I made a few practice videos to make sure I could use it. The practice videos I made were fine. When we arrived at our destination I reviewed the practice videos I made, only to find there was no audio. I made more practice videos, still no audio. I went to an Olympus dealer that also repaired these cameras. After about 30 minutes of playing with the camera they told me they had no idea what was wrong with it. What good is a camera with all these different features if it cannot do something as basic as audio to go with the video. This camera really ruined our family trip.

Overall, I really like this camera. Unfortunately the software developers at Olympus have almost made all the features that make the TG-Tracker stand out from the crowd irrelevant. For that reason I’m giving it 3 stars. If you don't care about all that extra telemetry it's probably a 4, if not 5 star device. So, short review is; great camera that can be even better in the next version. Absolutely horrible software solution. And if you want to use the GPS, Elevation/Depth, Compass, and Temperature data that is probably why your are considering this and not a comparably price GoPro Session, the software makes it such a chore that’s it’s almost not worth dealing with. Hardware: I've mainly used this camera for scuba diving, going down to about 80 feet with no issues. But I did play with it mounted to my car as well. It did a fantastic job underwater. I’ve shot in both HD and 4k, and both are excellent quality. Battery life, even with tracking on seems to be very good. I changed out batteries after each dive (about 45minutes) but the indicator makes me belie I could have maybe gotten 2 dives, or more, out of 1 battery charge. I also found that I like feature they called “loop”. You can set it to record a series of videos of a set length. So my dives where recorded in a series of 5 minute videos. But it’s not quite perfect. You can’t delete or rename the data log files. This is my biggest complaint. I ended up with 4 or 5 short logs and 1 long one that I wanted. But when you go to import them with the software there is no way to know which one you need. You can erase video files, or everything on the card. Not just the data log files. I find the buttons to be a bit too close together. I don’t think it will be very easy to operate anything but the record button and on/off with even thin summer mountain bike gloves on. I couldn’t get it to switch to data mode and display the compass on the screen while I was underwater. I can’t find anyway to disable sound recording. In most of the ways I intend on using this camera recording sound serves only to take up space and decrees recording time. It’s all or nothing with Temperature, GPS, Compass, and depth/elevation data. The flip out screen is nice, but at least a 180 degrees of rotation would be more nice. The software is where I have some major complaints, First, and perhaps biggest, is the fact that the only software (OI.TRACKER) that can make use of all that cool extra data ONLY RUNS ON A PHONE/TABLE. THERE IS NO COMPUTER VERSION OF OI.SHARE. Your phone/tablet probably can’t work with or handle 4k video, even if OI.Share would import them, which it wont. So all that cool telemetry you captured can’t be overlaid on a 4k video. I tried processing the videos with overlay on my Galaxy S7 and on an Asus ZenPad S 8.0. The software just kept crashing on the Galaxy. On the Asus tablet it failed on average 3 out of every 4 times. The instructions for working with video is very vague. It’s clear that this software was written for JPG files, not video. After some trial and error I learned that you must first import your HD files, can’t use 4k, with OI.Share, then you have to use OI.Tracker to import the data file that has all the cool telemetry. THEN you use (try to use) OI.Tracker to overlay the info onto an HD video (can’t be 4K). I seriously hope Olympus has some strong words with whomever is in charge of these decisions and has them create a PC based version of OI.Tracker so I can use my 3.6 ghz i7 processor to get that cool information onto a 20 minute 4K video. For now I’m stuck with HD video being processed on a 1.3ghz tablet. Next you MUST import files over the wifi connection with the camera. The software will NOT import video or data logs from the card if you take it from the camera and put it into your phone/tablet. And lastly, the stupid software disconnects the wifi from the camera after every transfer. The process is 1) hook up wifi. 2) open OI.Share and import a video (gotta do them 1 at a time because the software can't use my 128gb card) 3) realize you grabbed wrong video. 4) hook up wifi 5) use OI.Share to get video 6) hook up wifi 7) Open OI.Tracker and import data log. 8) realize you didn’t get right data log. 9) hook up wifi 10) import another data log 11) attempt to export HD video (no 4K) with overlay. 12) wait 15 minutes to discover video export failed. 13) repeat step 12 14) repeat step 12 15) repeat step 12, only with success. 16) repeat steps 1, 2 and 11 to 15 for next video. For all my complaints I’m not unhappy with the camera, I’m basically in the same place I’d be if I bought a GoPro Session and an underwater case. At least I don’t have to worry about the case I guess. And I'm really hoping Olympus software gets their act together and creates a PC solution to working with this camera. Dare I hope that it's a 1 application solution, and not 2 separate ones?

I bought this camera from Adorama when it first came out. The quality of the video is terrible. I have several video cameras over the years and this was the absolute worst quality I have ever seen. I have a ($) dash cam in my car that is easier to operate and has far superior video quality over this camera.

I recently purchased this camera to take to warped tour and I couldn't be more happy with it! It's way better than a go pro. Just my opinion. It's very light but also feels sturdy and well built. It's a little tank! I'm very pleased with it so far!

![[Video] ALC Exclusive: We Tested the New Olympus Action Cam Before Anyone Else](https://www.adorama.com/alc/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/OL_0524-YT.jpg)
The Olympus TG-Tracker is a ruggedized camera that Olympus has optimized for high-definition action videos at remote locations. It also captures MP still photos, but that’s not its main job. The camera is designed to be worn while participating in active sports and outdoor adventures. Adorama was the first in the world to use this camera for test shots. We absolutely loved testing this camera to its limits, including taking it skateboarding, surfing in frigid waters.
Key Features

In addition to being waterproof, crushproof, shockproof, freezeproof and dustproof, the TG-Tracker stakes out new territory by including not just GPS but an eCompass, accelerometer, thermometer, and barometer. This camera is Waterproof to 100 ft/30m (without housing). Crushproof to 220 lbf/100kgf and Shockproof up to 7ft/2.1m.

Delivers 4K video at 30p and 1080/60p, and up to 240p slow-motion video recording at 720 and 480-pixel resolution. Record up to 29 minutes of continuous video and then records over that when in continuous loop mode. 5-axis image stabilization should smooth out recordings when moving over rocky terrain, and a stereo microphone is built-in to capture the sounds.

Olympus provides an app that shows your altitude and records it in tandem with action videos. So, if you’re skiing downhill, it will show your altitude at any given moment in a chart on your mobile device as you play the video back.

The non-zooming lens has a wide depth of field, with closest fix focus of 7.8 inches. A forward-facing LED array projects either 60 or 30 lumens (what you lose in lumens you gain in recording time, 30 or 60 minutes. Compatible with Windows or Mac.
Olympus Tough TG-Tracker
Presenting an action cam that's tough enough to keep up with your adventures. The pocket-sized TG-Tracker records Ultra HD 4K video using advanced Olympus optics. Take it places you wouldn't dare take most cameras. Mountaintops. Winter slopes. Whitewater rafting or into the waves. Drop it, freeze it, submerge it, and it will just keep shooting - even 100 ft (30 m) underwater, no protective housing required. Handy extras like the LED headlight and the tilt-out monitor help you nail difficult shots. Use the built-in Action Track Sensors, GPS, and Wi-Fi to record and share every awesome moment. The TG-Tracker. It loves adventure as much as you do.
At first glance, the TG-Tracker looks rugged and compact, easy to carry and easy to shoot. But there's far more here than meets the eye. That's because TG-Tracker is part of the Olympus Tough Family worry-free cameras built to handle abuse so you can concentrate on getting great shots. TG-Tracker is waterproof to depths of 100 ft (30 m), crushproof up to 220 lbf (100 kgf)1, shockproof from 7 ft (2.1 m)1, freezeproof to 14°F (-10°C), and dustproof. Most other action cams need protective housings. That means more stuff to carry around, clumsy camera operation, and a difficult time capturing sound. With TG-Tracker, no housing equals better overall performance.

Record your adventures with so much vivid detail you'll feel like you're watching real life. That's the amazing resolution you get with Ultra HD 4K 30p video. Besides 4K, TG-Tracker gives you shooting options in Full HD 1080, HD 720, and standard definition, each with several frame rate options. Use the High Speed HD Video mode for slow-motion playback and the 4K Time Lapse Video mode to record captivating short video of long periods of time. The Loop Recording mode shoots continuously in 29 minute increments. Even still photos are covered with TG-Tracker's Still Shot mode.

There's advanced technology behind the imagery you'll capture with TG-Tracker. The BSI CMOS sensor works with Olympus' blazing fast TruePic VII for 4K Image Processor for video and stills rich with detail and vibrant color. For video you'll brag about, the Electronic 5-Axis Image Stabilization compensates for all types of movement and the bright F2.0 aperture shoots clearly in low light and underwater. The 204° extreme-wide angle lens provides a dramatic, almost panoramic perspective. Or, select the narrow angle view for a more natural perspective or underwater shooting. TG-Tracker comes with a Dome Lens Protector for most usage scenarios plus a flat Underwater Lens Protector to capture sharp underwater shots.

Sensor technology helps to track everything you see and do for an immersive experience that goes beyond video. There are five Action Track Sensors built into TG-Tracker. You'll find a GPS so you'll always know where you are. The e.Compass indicates direction. An accelerometer measures g-force. Keep an eye on your altitude or water depth with the barometric pressure sensor. The fifth sensor records ambient temperature1. View real-time data on TG-Tracker's tilt-out LCD monitor2. Activate Data Log Mode to record data without video for extended periods of time with limited battery use.

You're watching the sunrise from 12,000 feet above sea level. The climb was awesome and the video is spectacular. Get it to your friends, family, and social sites fast using TG-Tracker's built-in Wi-Fi. Quickly sync your smart device to your camera with the easy QR Code setup. Use the OI.Share app to remotely change settings and wirelessly share your shots. Use the OI.Track app to store still shots, video, and log data all on your smart device, then view videos and data simultaneously to relive the excitement1. Your data is a record of your adventure. Have fun sharing your achievements

Never miss an opportunity for amazing video. TG-Tracker has features that make it easy. This ultra-compact adventure cam fits in your pocket so it's easy to carry. The tilt-out LCD monitor makes it simple to change settings and quickly compose shots. Use the included Steady Grip handle to easily shoot from any angle. Activate the LED headlight to capture video after dark or double as a quick-use flashlight. A powerful interchangeable lithium-ion battery lets you shoot up to 95 minutes of 4K 30p video on a single charge. And when you need the perfect mounting solution, use the included three prong adapter to easily attach TG-Tracker to your choice of widely-available action cam mounting accessories.
