Video Projectors for Home and Office

When you want the biggest possible image for watching TV shows and movies or playing video games, you’ll need a video projector. Modern video projectors are small and extremely bright, and most can create an image over 100 inches in diameter or more. You can connect them to anything from a laptop to a Blu-ray player. Some models are designed for home use, while others can function in the home or at the office.

One thing to keep in mind is that some video projectors have a difficult time competing with ambient light. Turning off all or some of the lights in a room, or closing the curtains, will improve the image considerably. Or, you could purchase a bright video projector rated to display even under strong ambient light.

Few things make a presentation more engaging and easier to follow than a huge display to show your Powerpoint or video. Business projectors tend to be exceptionally bright and they often come with a variety of inputs and ports like HDMI, VGA, and sometimes Ethernet/LAN. These will help make it easier to ensure that whoever needs to use the video projector, can.

Home cinema projectors

A small projector can replace, either temporarily or permanently, a TV in most homes. Thanks to the standard HDMI connection, you can connect streaming sticks, game consoles, Blu-ray players, and even computers. Some models also have built-in streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu.

Typically, home cinema projectors aren’t as bright as those designed for office use, but they usually have better color and contrast.

Short throw, LED, UHP?

There are lots of different types of video projectors, and most have a variety of terms that can be confusing. A “short throw” projector is designed for closer placement to the screen than a traditional unit—usually a few feet, sometimes even less. In a smaller space or one with limited distance between the projector and the screen, a short throw device may be ideal.

Some projectors use LEDs, or light emitting diodes, instead of the more traditional ultra-high pressure (UHP) lamp. LED projectors tend to be smaller, but not as bright.
