Unlike most pinholes, the Obscura's imaging elements are durable and resistant to damage, thanks to their construction from three layers of chrome with a total thickness of 0.00014mm deposited on 1.5mm thick glass. This is then coated with an anti-reflective layer, ensuring excellent light transmission and perfectly round pinholes and precision zone plate zones, courtesy of a photolithography process with a resolution of 128K dpi.

The Obscura's pinhole, zone plate, and pinhole sieve options produce more detail than the pinhole option, enveloping the underlying detail in a soft glow. By increasing contrast and enhancing vibrance and/or saturation, you can bring a zone plate or pinhole sieve image to life. The zone plate offers a curved field of focus, creating a sweet spot, while the pinhole and pinhole sieve provide similar resolving power at the corner of the image as they do in the center.
