Im always looking for the ultimate optics and own all the APO Summicron M lenses and the 50mm Noctilux F0.95 and 75mm F1.25 and I mention this because I am not easily impressed when it comes to lenses. As far as 35mm rangefinder lenses this is my favorite. I don't mind larger lenses and this lens is very well built and balanced. It produces images similar to the 50mm M Summilux ASPH if I had to compare but with a little more character and in my opinion, more of the "Zeiss look" than any other lens outside of the Otus line. I have read some reviews that paint it out to be a budget alternative to Leica. I can comfortably say I would purchase this lens even if it costed more than Leica alternatives. It does produce some light color fringing and vignetting wide open but easily removable in post.

I’ve owned and used the much more expensive Leica 35mm f/1.4 Summilux ASPH FLE, but optically I like the Zeiss better. Both are so good that there is really nothing to complain about with either, but I find the Zeiss to be a tad bit sharper and with slightly more “pop”, though the Leica has ever-so-slightly smoother bokeh. The Leica is smaller, lighter, blocks less of the viewfinder and of course is six-bit coded, but the Zeiss is less than half the price and to be honest, neithe of these lenses needs any in-camera correction at all.

Outstanding 35mm 1.4 M-mount lens I think so. More suitable for landscape photography than the Summilux 35mm, perhaps because of the field curvature of the summilux. Works beautifully with the M10 despite its size.

High quality build. Amazing optics. Pictures draw beautifully. The is one of the best lenses made. I use it on the A7r II via an adapter (Voightlander close focus) even though it is not designed for the E mount. The optics are not technically perfect but the images are amazing. It's draw is something amazing.
