The Sweet 35 optic is good for portraits and other isolated foreground subjects. It performs better for me on a tripod or in bright outdoor light, where the aperture doesn't have to be wide open. Otherwise, the "sweet spot" of focus is a bit small for the relatively wide angle, and the pictures come out so soft they look poorly focused. Build quality is great, and this has given me some very nice photos, but overall I prefer my old 50mm double-glass optic and the edge 80mm optics. Using a Canon Rebel with Lensbaby Muse and Lensbaby Composer Pro II.

I've only had this lens a couple weeks and only used it a few times. If you already have the basic lenses in your kit and are looking for something different to be creative with, I think this is an excellent choice. Sweet35 and Edge80 are big steps forward for Lensbaby. The build quality is good and optical performance reasonable in my opinion. There is nothing automatic here, so there is a bit of a learning curve, but the added flexibility and compactness Lensbaby offers is worth it for me. I can carry a 35mm, a fisheye, and an 80mm with less space and weight than one regular lens. Be aware that Sweet35 is designed to focus sharply only in one spot, not from edge to edge of the frame. I use this lens with Composer Pro which gives a larger range of tilt (but no shift) functionality than my perspective control lens. I have been most happy with this lens when using a tripod, and least happy when having occasional difficulty swapping this optic at night or in bad weather.

Love this optic. It produces an incredibly sharp sweet spot surrounded by lovely, dreamy blur. I prefer to use this optic with Composer Pro, but it is already perfect for the Muse.

If you do not work in manual mode, you may want to start. This lens requires you to shoot in MM and what a great teacher. Excellent for artistic non traditional captures.

I didn't mind swapping in/out the aperture disks, but when this lil' baby came out - I'll never go back to it. I can't remember how many aperture blades are in this thing, but it's pretty close to a smooth circle as you can get. The ease of DOF control and speed at which you can work with the LB is greatly enhanced. If you're not comfortable with the LB lens, give it some time and you'll be mastering it in no time at all - especially with this new attachment. Being that the Composer is a 50mm focal length, the Sweet35 attachment is now 35mm - nice. I also don't find the Sweet35 obtrusive at all - even when a low-profile UV filter on it.

I bought this with a lensbaby composer and several other of their product and was quite disappointed. Sold it after a couple of months. Not having to change aperture disks is handy, but I found this as balky to use as the rest of the "system". I might try their new improved composer, but haven't yet.
