I have tried several different types of shots. So far my favorite is of my dog nose to nose with the lens...we've all seen this kind of shot, just never dreamed I'd be able to do it! Anything with straight lines in it, like trees or buildings is fun, too as it makes the lines of a picture look rounded.

This lens is a lot of fun, and you can swap the other Lensbaby optics (Glass, Double Glass, Plastic, Pinhole/Lensplate, etc.) into this. I like it because it has a straight body, whereas the other lensbaby bodies are angled. It is lightweight and well-built. My only knock is that it's manual-focus only.

The lensbaby fisheye is my first manual focus lens, so it has been challenging to begin using. However, it is exactly as advertised...it is an affordable, fun, and unique lens that I am happy to have added to my collection. Further, the facts that I will be able to add other lensbaby optics, as they are interchangeable, will be fun to explore in the future.

I recently purchased the Lensbaby Scout, Manual Focus Fisheye SLR Camera Lens for Nikon F. This little lens comes with an interchangeable fisheye lens and is making me see things very differently. It focus from 1/2" an inch & weights next to nothing, so it may take a little getting use to if you normally have a larger tele/zoom lens attached to your camera. I've been on two outings & have taken about 170 pictures using it. These outings were for the most part experimental to learn how the lens behaves and how I should be "seeing" subjects. Truth be told, from the super close focus of macro to funky landscapes, I haven't had this much fun with a new lens in a long time!

Scout with Fisheye, a fun and affordable manual focus Fisheye SLR camera lens, is available in mounts for all popular SLR camera bodies. Scout, the first Lensbaby lens that does not bend, features the Fisheye Optic, which delivers an ultra-wide 12mm focal length capable of capturing a 160 degree angle of view from infinity all the way down to 1/2 inch from the front of the lens. The Fisheye Optic can also create unique flare effects in an image.
The Scout with Fisheye ships with the Fisheye Optic installed, but photographers can use other Lensbaby Optic Swap System optics such as Soft Focus, Pinhole/Zone Plate, Double Glass, Single Glass, and Plastic. With Lensbaby's selective focus optics, (Double Glass, Single Glass, and Plastic) the sweet spot of focus will always be centered in the photo.
The Fisheye Optic features a creative lens flare effect that causes the edge areas that would ordinarily be black to glow with color whenever there are bright light sources in the image. This lens flare effect is particularly apparent when shooting with a full frame camera though it is also apparent when shooting with APS-sized sensors.
The ability to focus one half inch in front of the lens provides an extraordinary way to explore macro photography. Get close enough to a flower to nearly touch it - while capturing the entire garden surrounding it in the frame.
