It's a good alternative for macro lens due to its lower price compared to Nikkon's macro lenses. For macro photography, it is fine. However, I will not use it for portrait. To me, it's like the pictures you take are sort of blurry, out of focus when you shoot with wide aperture. I am much happier with quality, speed, and build of Nikkor 85mm 1.8 S.

This is my first Lensbaby lens, and I love the 85mm focal length, the close-up ability and the RF mount. Even though it is fully manual, I found it easy to use, in part, because I always use manual exposure and focusing when shooting macro images even with auto macro lenses. At f/5.6 and smaller apertures, the lens functions like a regular lens and is super sharp. As you stop down, the outer edges gets more blurred, and when fully opened, the entire image has that dreamy haze to it. I prefer using it at f/2.8 or f/4 which gives you a sharp center and nice blurred outer edges. I've only had a chance to use it for shooting flowers and am looking forward to shooting portraits with this lens when things ease up pandemic-wise.

This is a Great lens! The artistic possibilities are endless. It is manually focused and needs some practice, but the resulting pictures are well worth the effort....love it! THe service from Adorama is excellent.

This lens works great on z6 &z7 cameras. Very sharp at f8 to f16. Great special effects at f4 to f1.8.

let me start by saying that it is a hard lens to use, but once you get used to setting everything manually it opens a lot of possibilities. if you are looking for ways to express your creativity, this is the lens for, you can create unique pictures just for your interpretation the lens is solidly built and I definitely recommend this lens if you are patient and take the time to get used to it I have the lens for two weeks and I love it and I am getting good pictures which I know will get better with time Ed Bazzy

Love it! There is a learning curve and am getting used to the manual focus but the results are beautiful. After three sessions it now feels normal. I'm planning on getting the Composer Pro with Sweet 50 to round out my options.

I almost returned the Lensbaby. It does take patience and commitment to understanding how to work the lens. But I am glad that I stuck with it, and I have beautiful images that I love. This lens is beautiful for macro and portraits.
