So pleased I waited for the black version of this lens. I shoot it on my Leica M9ME and using an adapter on my Panasonic G9. On the Leica I can’t seem to move away from f5.6 because I love the moodiness of the result. I doubt my pictures have optical perfection some people need but the OOC result is pleasing to me. I don’t spent too much time doing processing and I’m loving this lens.

Be part of a timeless legacy with the Leica Summaron-M 28mm f/5.6 lens, a modern reinterpretation of a classic design. Drawing inspiration from its predecessor, a screw mount lens produced by the esteemed Leitz factory in Wetzlar from 1955 to 1963, this lens combines the iconic optical attributes of the past with the advanced technology of today.
The Summaron-M lens is meticulously crafted, embodying the essence of its ancestor while incorporating contemporary design elements. Its manual focus design ensures precision, offering a minimum focusing distance of 3.3' and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:33.4. The integrated depth of field scale is a thoughtful addition for photographers who rely on pre-focusing techniques, and the elongated focus throw allows for perfect subject isolation, making your subject the star of the frame.
The Summaron-M lens is renowned for its unique visual flair. It produces images with a profound depth of field, authentic contrast, detailed rendition, and purposeful vignetting, resulting in an unparalleled aesthetic. The images it captures are imbued with an analog spirit, making them stand out in the digital age.
As the smallest M-System lens, the Summaron-M is the ideal companion for street photography. Its compact size, measuring under 2 cm, allows photographers to capture the candid essence of the streets without drawing attention. The easily readable depth of field scale and extended focus throw provide a tool for precise pre-focusing. With its expansive depth of field, it's a top choice for photographers who utilize hyperfocal distance focusing, enabling quick, intuitive shots that often outperform even the most advanced autofocus systems.
The lens hood of the Summaron-M pays tribute to the artistry of classic rangefinder photography. Each lens hood starts as a solid brass piece and undergoes meticulous processes to achieve its final form. The intricate grooves seamlessly carved into the inner surface reflect the craftsmanship synonymous with Leica.
When it comes to technical specifications, the Leica Summaron-M 28mm f/5.6 lens is impressive. It features an optical design of 6 elements in 4 groups, symmetrically organized around the iris, staying true to its ancestor's architecture. The modern version introduces an M-bayonet mount with 6-bit coding, enabling the camera to quickly recognize and adapt to the lens.
Experience the fusion of history and innovation with the Leica Summaron-M 28mm f/5.6 lens. It's more than just a lens; it's a tribute to photography's illustrious past and its vibrant future.
