The instructions say the lens hood cover has "a 1/4 inch hole at one end of the cover seam to accmodate for the lens hood locking knob". It DOES NOT ! This means you will have to make your own cut-out in the hood cover to accomodate the locking knob and the built up part of the hood where the screw is mounted. This screw on the Canon 500 mm lens is captive, meaning you can't remove it. I wonder if this product is really designed specifically for the Canon 500 mm lens. You have to remove the tripod mount. God help you if you don't have the right specialized dimple/star screwdriver tip to get the fasteners off. There is a plastic window that covers the AF and distance scale making it all but impossible to manipulate the switches. You will probably end up cutting it out. It's made out of neoprene rubber (I think) and it's really, really, really difficult to slide onto the lens. I had to spray the inside with silicone. If I hadn't already messed with this product I'd send it back. Look for another brand of lens cover!
