The filter is crazy over priced but hey, it?s Leica. Adorama dropped the ball on packaging the filter for shipment. They just tossed it into a non padded envelope. Subpar shipping. Filter recommend.

Summilux 50mm lens hood and filter incompatibility

This filter does not work with the Summilux 50mm lens hood/cap combo that ships with the lens. There is no groove on the filter for the lens hood tabs. BTW: there appears to be no substitute.

Putting the best UVA glass on the Best 35mm lens

Adorama sold me my Leica lenses, the latest being the 35mm Summicron, which I absolutely love. To protect the lens glass I purchased the Leica E39 39mm UVa II Glass Filter rather than a second market filter - why would I skimp on the protective filter after spending the money for the best Leica 35mm lens available? Very pleased with its quality and ease to change to a 3 stop ND filter when needed. The UVA glass filter is always on the lens.

The UVa II filter protects the front elements of the lens against scratches, marks and dirt. At the same time, the new multicoating and significantly improved optical parameters make it possible to preserve full imaging quality, even in unfavorable lighting conditions. Thanks to an additional thread, the UVa II filter can also be used in combination with other filters and acts as permanent protection for your valuable filters, too.
