Questions & Answers

Shopper : Will it fit a Sony A7 series hotshoe?
Shopper : will it fit my nikon d850?ALUISIUS S : I don't have a D850, but it fits fine on D800.LOREN H : YesANDREW D : I have not tried it on an 850, but it fits all three of my Nikons: a D3s, an 810, and a 750. Nikon appears to use the same hot shoe on all their cameras.WADE G : Yes. It fits on the hot shoe of any camera.DAVID H : Yes, it will fit any camera with a hot shoe.YEE HAN C : Standard hotshot so yes.EMIL M : Yes.
Shopper : is 3 axis better than 2 axis for 35 mm ?JOSEPH P : I cannot say if the 3-axis is better but I find it useful no matter how I position my camera.CHARLES G : I like it better than the previous bubble level I had because with this one, I don't have to be concerned with how I orient it on the hot shoe, and I can switch freely between landscape and portrait orientation and always have one bubble visible.SAUL S : yes, it allows leveling when camera is held verticallySTEPHEN B : Only if you plan on shooting in both portrait and landscape orientation. If you're only using it for stitching in landscape configuration, then the 2 axis is all you need. For a few dollars more, why not cover all potential needs and get the 3 axis?RICK D : Only if you want or need extremely precise leveling. I find that I only use it when composing and shooting panoramas. For all other shots, a 2 axis is just fine.THOMAS V : Yes it is, but only a little. These devices are most useful in landscape photography where a true, level horizon is important. That can be done with a single-axis level. When I use mine, I generally only pay attention to the lateral bubble. Hope this helps.JAMES J : In my opinion, . . . yes. When mounted in the Hot Shoe you will then have the ability to level your camera body whether you are shooting with the body in the Horizontal (Landscape) position or in the Vertical position. Although I purchased the Lenscoat 3 Axis Bubble Level back in 2010, I have only used it a couple of times, and it worked as it was designed to. It fits snug in the Hot Shoe mount on my Canon 50D and does not appear that I have to worry much about it falling out.ROBERT E : It depends on the type of photography you are doing. The third axis bubble primarily is used when mounting the camera in a vertical position so that you don't have to reposition the level itself. It is nice to have for the small price difference over a two axis level.SUSIE W : I went with the 3 axis bubble level. Although I've found that for most situations a 2 axis bubble would work for me, for the minimal increase in price I thought it was worth it. And I have But I have found that the bubble level, in general, has been a great accessory for me.JEROME P : The third axis is great to use if you are taking a landscape picture on a portrait mode. The 2 axis don't have the left to right bubble level when taking a picture on a portrait mode.DARCI S : I've found the third level helps for when you have the whole camera turned vertical vs. horizontal, that there will always be two usable without having to reposition it in the hotshoe.JOHN O : The third bubble on the vertical cylinder adds no additional information and is not as sensitive as the two bubbles on the horizontal cylinders. I bought this particular 3 axis bubble level because of its simplicity and compactness.

Keep it in your bag.

Very handy if you have it available. I use it alot because it really speeds setting up for a interior shoot or landscape photo. Works vertically and horizontally to keep the horizon and walls straight.

Works well

I use the level on my Canon XSi Rebel camera to keep the horizons from being wonkish in my photos. It has worked well for me, although I think the level is more suited for use with a tripod or a camera with an articulating screen in the back. If and when I acquire a camera to replace my Canon XSi Rebel, I plan to use this level with it. One more thing: unlike the previous level which I had for this XSi, this level does NOT have a tendency to slip out of the hotshoe!!

Works well but isn't unbreakable

Seems to work well, but fits my camera's shoe so tightly that it cracked. Had to superglue one of the little feet edges back on but so far is holding well. If it fits tightly in your camera, be very careful or you might snap one of the edges off.

3 axis is important

I've had it for a couple of weeks and I'm happy that it's a pretty good level. If you're concerned with leveling -- I shoot house & apartment interiors -- anything less than three axes on a level is a bit pointless, even when you only check one or two at setup. Any of those three can be an issue.

Works as advertised

The level works as advertised. The only negative is that it is sometimes difficult to get in and out of the flash shoe.

Keeps things on the level.

Truly a 3-bubble level. Fits nice and tight (bit of a struggle to get it out, but I would rather it be tight than loose). I will not store the camera with it on as it might distort the hot shoe a bit. Have not yet used it in the field - this weekend. However, when I checked it against the levels on the tripod and the QR plate, none of them agreed. So, I tested it against a plumb line and it appears to be right on the money in either orientation as well as front/back. Even got it in agreement with the level on the QR plate, as there seems to be some bit of give/take while still staying level. Given some of the reviews of other similar levels that were reported to be off, I would test any of them against a plumb line to see if they are off and if so, by how much, prior to field use. Given that there are 3 levels, they sometimes get in each other's way. You can play with the directionality of the mount, but it is generally very usable and visible regardless. Overall, very impressed and looking forward to keeping my horizons perfectly level to avoid having to straighten in PS (losing some detail and definition in the process). I'll give it a 5 since I am pretty sure it will work well in the field, given that the garage tests are bang on.
