I have always wanted a Leica. Their Big Kid cameras are just too pricey for my use. I bought their “Little Guy” and I love it tons. It is a Leica ! The feel, the uncompromising image quality. The Black and White images scream Leica. I have a Nikon D500 and D850. When I’m just walking around I always have this little powerhouse with me. I am still amazed at the stunning images I have captured.

Excellent camera, lots of extras, got my money’s worth. Adorama has long been excellent photography business to purchase from. Very pleased! Leica is outstanding.

This is a great camera! When I don’t want to drag around my around my SLR and all its lenses, the Leica fits in my pocket and gives amazing results.

Great camera so far, have only used for a little bit. Impressed by the accessories, love that it’s a pro sd card, I wasn’t expecting that and the case is really good quality. Highly recommend for anyone interested. Arrived earlier than predicted, too.

Recommend the book "Photographer's Guide to the Leica D-Lux (Type 109)" by Alexander S. White. Former die hard film user. Now learning digital.

I was worried about spending this kind of money on a fixed lens P&S, but my worries subsided when I felt this camera in my hands and they were gone after I processed my first batch of photos. It's a great camera that makes very good images without having to lug around a heavier SLR.

Awesome little camera. This one isn't as intuitive as my D-Lux 5 or Digilux 2 (or my old M6 but that's another story) so be prepared to dig into the manual. It's worth it; once you get past it wanting to shoot video not stills! The D-Lux 5 on the other hand is dead-simple. I wish I could say the same about the Type 109. The remote function is something wildlife photographers will love! From your phone you can control all aspects of the camera (while seeing the image too) including actually taking a picture! Fantastic!

I bought this used from Adorama. Although described as Excellent minus, I'd call it Near Mint. Every little thing was included; even the box was in excellent shape. Many reviewers wrote that this camera produces Leica-like images. So I took my (absurdly expensive) Leica kit out and compared images. Yes, in many ways the images compared very well; sharpness (up to a point), pulling detail from shadows, treatment of noise at low iso, etc. Of course, the big Leica has a larger sensor, so you simply won't get the same treatment of light and color. And the Leica lenses can be 3-10 times more expensive than this camera; the images are distinctly better. Still, compared to my other micro 4/3 cameras, the D-Lux strikes me as exceptional.

I don’t like to pack around a big camera, but I do like to take good photos. I had a previous model of this camera and took it everywhere. This one is even better—sharper pictures, bigger aperture, wi-fi, more pixels, full-featured, but easier to use. The only drawback is the detached flash. On my previous model the flash was built-in. Not a big disappointment, however, since I don’t use flash very often.

I love the camera. I have used Nikons for many years, full sized DSLRs are getting a little heavy at my age. Several years ago, I bought a D-Lux 5 and have used it extensively. It's so convenient to stick in my pocket or in my car's console. I plan to use the new camera the same way. I gave the D-Lux 5 to a friend and decided I needed a replacement.

The Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) is one heck of a performer, even though it is a 'compact' camera! An outstanding Summilux lens provides the equivalent of 24mm to 70mm with great dynamic range & incredible sharpness in both jpeg & RAW despite what many might think because of its resolution. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Pros It's small and light. convenient If you like the option of manuel shooting. Setting can be adjusted externally. no menus to sort through to find your settings. Wifi function is user friendly. Cons the zoom isn't on the lens. It's in the shutter release button. The automatic seems to let a little dust in. Keeping a lens cloth handy is mandatory. The lens pops out when viewing photos or using wifi

Damn right it is! The size and handling was so leica-like! The only thing that was not leicaesque was the weight. it was so llight. I use this as a secondary camera, so being lightweight was a plus. Just wish it had interchangable lenses. The quality of photos was better than expected for a 4/3 format. Get one....

I just received this camera and love it. Bought it for those times when you want something small but don't want to compromise on quality. Nice metal casing and weight. easy to read dials. A little bit of a learning curve with some of the functions but once your set-up it is smooth to adjust. Love the exposure comp. dial on top. It may be hard not to forget I own a large FX camera.

What I don't like: - Noise is a little too high compare to DSLR - Used for 3 weeks, already found one dust on the sensor. Not sure how it gets into the camera since this is not a changeable lens camera. What I like: - Sharp image.

I like the Leica D-LUX more than the Lumix LX100; the Leica just feels better. I can hold the camera better without the small grip of the LX100. The Leica feels better balanced; it fits in my hands naturally and is easier to hold steady (an advantage at slow shutter speeds). This camera just wants to take good pictures. Don't let the similar specs of the Leica D-LUX and Lumix LX100 make you think they are equivalent; pick them up and compare how they feel when taking pictures. I use the camera mainly for landscapes and taking pictures in gardens, e.g. the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, CA. In the future I will be using the 4K video capability. I am particularly interested in extracting the 8MB still images from a 4K video. Other uses will include indoor shots inside museums and other buildings.

Leica D-Lux - Inspired by life
Fast and fantastic - the incredibly fast lens
Of all the Leica compact cameras, the D-Lux has one of the fastest lenses. Its zoom lens is perfectly matched to its large sensor. With an impressive sensitivity range to ISO 25600 thanks to particularly large pixels, it makes the best of available light and delivers pictures with natural colors and exceptional quality. Perfect for available-light photography and, thanks to a versatile zoom lens (24 to 75mm in 35mm format), in an almost infinite number of creative genres - from portraits, landscapes, and architecture to macro and reportage, the classic domain of Leica cameras.
Beautifully simple: Form follows function
Even at first glance, the D-Lux reveals its heritage as a genuine Leica - classic elegance, timeless beauty, and particular attention to simple and intuitive handling. The change between automatic and manual modes is also particularly simple. Even less experienced photographers can enjoy the experience of immediate success - and seeing it brightly and clearly on the high-resolution 3" LCD monitor, even in bright sunlight. In an instant, anyone taking it in their hands feels and sees the superior quality of both its materials and finish.
High resolution of the integrated viewfinder
The ideal composition and framing of subjects and scenes is quickly found in the integrated electronic viewfinder. Thanks to a resolution of 2.8 megapixels, it delivers a sharp, high-contrast image - even in bright conditions. Cleverly, the viewfinder shows the same exposure settings as are displayed on the monitor. As it also offers individual diopter compensation, the viewfinder can be used by glasses wearers with no limitations at all.
No wires attached thanks to Wi-Fi and NFC
An integrated Wi-Fi module provides remote control for the D-Lux from a smartphone or tablet, which is particularly useful when the photographer wants to be in the picture. The Leica C Image Shuttle app required for this function can be downloaded free of charge and installed on iOS or Android devices. An integrated NFC (near field communication) module quickly and easily sets up a Wi-Fi connection with an NFC-compatible smartphone when the phone is held close to the camera.
Moving memories in high-resolution 4K format
Sometimes videos say more than still pictures. The Leica D-Lux is ideally prepared to capture such moments - on video in 4K, the high-definition digital recording format with four times the resolution of full HD. Recording and saving videos is simplicity itself - and the quality is no less than breathtaking. In fact, it's so good that single moments from videos can be selected and kept as photos.
Three-year warranty inclusive
With the Leica "Three-year warranty" - more than many other manufacturer's warranty - the D-Lux delivers more peace of mind. In a warranty case during these 3 years, our worldwide Service & Support team aim to ensure a smooth process and rapid solutions to problems.
