Perfect fitting with protection

This coat fits great. I bought it to protect my lens when traveling. I carry this in my roll on. In some of the smaller planes they tell us to check in the suitcase at the gate. When they do I just take this out in the coat and carry it separately and place it back when we land.

I assumed that this was a functional cover that could accompany the lens in the field

I assumed that this was a functional cover that could accompany the lens in the field. The promo showed a pic of the cover on my lens with windows open for the controls etc. I guess I can use the cover the lens while in the field until I shoot, then pull it off. In the current configuration I can't use the cover while using the lens.

The LensCoat TravelCoat Cover for Canon 500 f/4 IS II Lens with Hood (Forest Green Camo) is a 3mm thick shock-absorbing closed-cell neoprene lens cover that is custom tailored to fit the lens with its lens hood mounted in reverse position. It is designed to fully protect the lens from bumps, scratches and abrasions when not in use, without the need of a more traditional bulky lens case. The trim fit of the coat permits you to have extra storage space when you're packing for that long photo excursion - or even a day trip. The coat simply slides over the lens and closes with a secure touch fastener.
