Perfect fitting with protection

This coat fits great. I bought it to protect my lens when traveling. I carry this in my roll on. In some of the smaller planes they tell us to check in the suitcase at the gate. When they do I just take this out in the coat and carry it separately and place it back when we land.

I assumed that this was a functional cover that could accompany the lens in the field

I assumed that this was a functional cover that could accompany the lens in the field. The promo showed a pic of the cover on my lens with windows open for the controls etc. I guess I can use the cover the lens while in the field until I shoot, then pull it off. In the current configuration I can't use the cover while using the lens.

The LensCoat TravelCoat Cover for Sigma 500 f/4.5 Lens (Black) is a 3mm thick shock-absorbing closed-cell neoprene lens cover. It is designed to fully protect the lens when not in use, without the need for a more comprehensive lens case. It allows more valuable room for packing and storage. The cover simply slides over the lens and closes with a secure touch fastener.
