The magnifier is easy to attach and remove. It makes focusing substantially faster and more accurate. The little case that attaches to the M8 strap is a typical Leica touch: at first, the case seems silly, but in use the case is brilliant.
Not an accessory but essential
I had problesm to find a focus with the Leica M9 before. The magnifier 1.4 helped me a lot and I had to undergo a surgery of the right eye and could not to use it for 3 days. With the magnifier one can use the camera with the right or with the left eye. With or without glasses. My fotos are much better now.

- For all very fast Leica M lenses when the full aperture of the lens is used to apply the shallow field depth to a specific detail of the subject
- 40% increase in the effective measuring base results in a corresponding increase in focusing accuracy
- With 75 to 135 mm telephoto lenses, the clearly larger viewfinder image offers significantly better recognition of subject details inside the field frame
- Roughly 70% of the original viewfinder image can still be seen
- A 0.72x camera viewfinder (M8 models: 0.68x) becomes a 1x viewfinder (0,95x); this combination also allows comfortable viewing of the subject with both eyes.
