Quick but not bulky!

This stays in my pickup with a window mount. This is perfect to use when driving around trying to investigate something quickly (yet not bulky).

Leupold #1

When it comes to lens clarity, several factors come into play. Materials and coatings used on the lenses that contribute to the crystal-clear vision. 100 yards 10 power, cloudy.

As an outfitter/guide since 1998, I have always relied on Leuopold. I decided to get the GR 12-40x60 spotting scope for back country trips and it is impressive. I don't think there is a scope on the market that can compare for it's size. Very happy, I highly recommend.

I was first surprised by

I was first surprised by how small and light the scope actually was once I had it on my hands. Second I was surprised by how useful it has become. The eye box is super tight at 20X but I have been mostly using it at lower magnification without a tripod. I would recommend it for a light scope thats easy to pack just know you most likely are not going to be able to comfortably use 20X.

I haven't used this much yet but so far it appears well made and highly functional for the shooting range, long distance archery hunting and archery related events like TAC to view targets and shots on target for these kinds of long distance archery events. I will use it along with my binocs for sure. Glass quality seems supreme.

Outstanding scope. Although I really consider it a handheld monocular not a spotting scope. You can easily freehand it up to about 15 power and keep it steady enough. I'd say it's a little difficult to see fine detail like counting antlers above 15x (standing unsupported). 15-20x is very usable if you can rest your elbows on something. It's ridiculously light and compact. You can fit it in a cargo pocket if you wanted to. The only thing I'd like to see on it is a 50mm objective.

The Leupold Gold Ring models

The Leupold Gold Ring models are by far my favorite spotting scopes on the market. I have owned the 60 mm for over 10 years and have used it extensively to spot shed antlers and spot elk, deer, bears, and moose. In my opinion the glass is as clear as it can get in any spotting scope. Due to the light weight and comfortable eye piece of the gold rings I haven't had the need to carry binoculars since I bought the 60 mm. I liked the 60 mm so much I purchased the 80 mm and love it just as much. Obviously, with the higher magnification you can see things better, but also adds a little more weight. Leupold has the lifetime warranty, but I don't see it ever being needed. For ten years i have used mine aggressively and never had any issues. I have dropped it, got it wet, had horses roll over on it while in the saddle bags, accidently drug it behind a snowmobile in my backpack, and used it in extremely cold temperatures.

Excellent people and even better glass

I inherited my Grandpas old spotting scope and been using it for several years. It became less clear the last few years until this year I couldn't see anything and turns out a prism was broken.. sent it in hoping for a fix but they got me a replacement! Top notch people and the best there is.. period!!

Very clear spotter from edge

Very clear spotter from edge to edge. Way better in low light than I was expecting. The radical in it is perfect. It is enough to use for calling shots or judging antler size but small enough that it doesn't distract you while looking for animals. I would 100% recommend this.

Spotting Scope for a Lifetime

By Corey

This scope will be with me until I hang it up. The premium price is well worth it due to the quality, performance and Leupold's Gold Ring warranty. No worries on it ever needing to be replaced. Great image quality and usability. I'm glad I decided to go with it. Looking forward to using it this next fall in the Rocky Mountains again.
