Short story: right shape, wrong screw size. Details: I bought P/N 171114 to mount a VX-5HD 3-15x44 on a Savage 110 Ultralite (model 72225). The rings I received are made for mounting to a round receiver with 6-48 screws. Savage has apparently changed something because the new in box Ultralite I have is tapped with 8-40 threaded holes. The rings appear to be correct in all other aspects since they match the round receiver shape and the scope. (They are stamped with ?178695? which I assume is to match them as a set) I attempted to use left over 8-40s from another project to mount, but the hole size in the rings are made for the smaller 6-48s for both the screw and recessed screw cap.
