This is the latest addition to my Leupold family and man did they raise the bar. I have long favored the VX3 LR in 4.5x14x50 and own several in various reticle configurations. The features they loaded into this scope are top notch. The low light performance is second to none. CDS and zero lock are the icing on the cake. Born and raised in America. Buy American.
Leupold, why buy anything else?
I've been buying Leupold for 25 years or so, used Leupold extensively in the Military over that time and can say that every product I have used has been Sailor, Marine, and Soldier proof and built to be precise before, during, and after rough use. The VX-5HD Riflescope features a High-Definition optical system that sharpens image clarity, and the Twilight Max Light Management System that enhances visibility in low-light conditions. The riflescope's new CDS-ZL2 (Custom Dial System ZeroLock 2) elevation dial locks in place to prevent accidental rotation off zero. With a simple button press, users can dial up two turns of elevation, if necessary.
The riflescope also includes a 2nd Generation Argon/Krypton Waterproofing system, which uses an exclusive, proprietary Argon/Krypton gas blend to minimize the effects of thermal shock and reduce gas diffusion inside the scope. This advanced waterproofing system outperforms traditional nitrogen technology, ensuring your scope remains reliable in various weather conditions.
The 30mm maintube of the riflescope, crafted from 6061-T6 aircraft quality aluminum, offers exceptional strength and a greater range of windage and elevation adjustment. The riflescope is also equipped with the Leupold Ballistics Aiming System (BAS) on select models, which provides multiple aiming points for longer ranges and varying wind speeds. The BAS, combined with infinite power selector settings to match your rifle's ballistics, can help you master the art of accurate, long-range shooting.
The VX-5HD Riflescope also features FireDot Illumination, a powered fiber optic reticle technology that offers the perfect blend of daylight illumination and optimal light transmission and contrast for low light hunting situations. The generous eyebox provides a full clear sight picture that fills the eyepiece completely, allowing for faster target acquisition.
The riflescope's Guard-Ion Rain Shedding Coating is extremely durable and scratch-resistant, effectively shedding water, dirt, and fingerprints. The proprietary MST (Motion Sensor Technology) automatically deactivates illumination after 5 minutes of inactivity, yet reactivates instantly as soon as any movement is detected.
The riflescope also includes a Pop Up Rezero windage adjustment feature for easy adjustment and zero mark setting without the need for tools. The Side Focus feature allows for fast, easy parallax focusing from any shooting position.
