Best in class by a long shot!!
This is the latest addition to my Leupold family and man did they raise the bar. I have long favored the VX3 LR in 4.5x14x50 and own several in various reticle configurations. The features they loaded into this scope are top notch. The low light performance is second to none. CDS and zero lock are the icing on the cake. Born and raised in America. Buy American.
Leupold, why buy anything else?
I've been buying Leupold for 25 years or so, used Leupold extensively in the Military over that time and can say that every product I have used has been Sailor, Marine, and Soldier proof and built to be precise before, during, and after rough use. The VX-5HD is taking optical performance to a whole new level. We gave it a High-Definition optical system for sharpened clarity and the Twilight Max Light Management System for even greater low-light performance, giving hunters a visible advantage at dawn and dusk when the biggest game is on the move.
The new CDS-ZL2 (Custom Dial System ZeroLock 2) elevation dial locks in place so it cannot be inadvertently rotated off zero. A mere press of a button will allow the user to dial up two turns of elevation, if necessary. On the 2nd revolution of the elevation dial, the button sinks in to show you are on the 2nd turn so you can dial for extended ranges and never lose your place. The covered pop-up windage dial provides fast and accurate sight-in and easy rezero. All VX-5HD CDS-ZL2 riflescopes include one free Custom Ballistic Dial with purchase. FireDot illuminated reticles provide daylight bright, red dot-like performance with an easy to use 1 button intensity adjustment.

CDS-ZL2 Zero Lock Adjustment with Revolution Indicator
The CDS-ZL2 elevation adjustment dials easily for quick sight-in and to set for target ranges. Press the ZeroLock button to release and dial as much as 38MOA elevation. Dial back to zero and the lock snaps back into place automatically, ensuring correct re-zero and that the dial cannot accidentally move.

Twilight Max Light Management System
Light management means delivering usable light to your eye and forming a crisp, high contrasting image. This means you can see antler tines in dark shadows long after the competition has gone home.
Twin Bias Spring Erector System
