This is an awesome set and forget scope with an exceptionally functional reticle. The reticle allows you to reach out at longer ranges and be precise with no worries about exposed turrets that can turn out of position or fail and cost you a game animal. I love the simplicity and functionality of this scope!

I see reviews saying the reticle appears too small. I had the same problem. After reading the owner's manual, I noticed that it has to be focused to your eye. Do this by rotating the eye piece while looking through the scope, and as you rotate the eye piece you will notice the reticle and MOA marks become much larger and extremely sharp. When focused properly to your eye it will be even better than the image in the product description. Its the third step under "Installing the base, rings, and scope" section on page 1 of the manual. Next I noticed I was all over the paper at 100 yds. I read some more of the manual and learned about that knob on the left side of the scope. The Parallax adjustment. Very easy to adjust. It is a requirement for consistent shot grouping and varies with range. Before this scope I have only owned scopes that were 3-9 power that did not have adjustable focus eye pieces or parallax adjustments or range turrets so this was all new to me and interesting to learn. If you are unfamiliar with the capabilities of this type scope google some articles and videos so you can get the maximum potential out of it. I think this is a good scope at a good price for moving up to longer range shooting. Its accurate and the optics are bright, clear, and sharp. And easy to use.

I use the Scope for accuracy on the range and in competition. I have always had Leupold Scopes. I would never purchase any other brand.

Was a little disappointed in the reticle picture is not accurate mill dots are small and only on about a 1/4 of the total reticle.

Great optic, I put this 4-12 on my Browning AB3 in 300 win mag and will be chasing elk this fall with the setup. The VX-Freedom line is great for hunting rifles. #sweepstakes

This is my second VX-Freedom scope, and all but one of my rifles now sports a Luepold scope (that one may be changing in the future). The first is working flawlessly - adjustments are postive and easy to use, focus has remained sharp, scope body is blemish free. My son looked thru the scope after it was mounted and commented on how sharp of an image was presented. I would highly recommend this scope to a friend.

I was looking for more distance and better accuracy with my Ruger 350 legend that I recently purchased. When looking for a scope, there was no doubt I would be purchasing a Leupold model. After much research, I settled on the VX-FREEDOM CDS system. I have only shot it at the range so far but I love the ease of the CDS system and the clarity of the glass. I am looking forward to my deer hunt in Michigan this year with my new set up. I plan on upgrading my other scopes to this model in the near future. Thank you Leupold for making such a quality product!

I placed this on a new rifle I built (AR style flattop .308 cal.) This scope was mounted on a Leupold AR Mark scope base. It is very clear and easy to use. I had it zeroed in less than 10 rounds. This is the second Leupold scope I have had in 40 plus years of shooting and hunting. When the time comes for another scope it will be a Leupold.

Bought the VX-Freedom to replace my old scope that leaked water inside. Glass is significantly clearer than my old scope and the warranty was a big determining factor for purchasing a Leupold scope. I intend to use the scope for hunting and the occasional target shooting but one thing I didn't like is how the windage and elevation dials feel when turning, the soft mushy dials makes adjustments a pain. I guess that's the downside of purchasing online otherwise I would've chosen a different model had I known, but overall I'm happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this product for anyone looking to take it out in the woods and not concerned with making adjustments to windage and elevation on a regular basis. #sweepstakes

I thought I had found the perfect scope for my 6.5 Creedmoor until I looked through one in the store. Way too Cluttered! I'm a long-time user of Leupold scopes but the TRI-MOA Reticle is not of their standards.

I purchased this scope for my Remington 700, 30-06. The scope glass appears to be a slight improvement over my Vortex Diamondback (4-12x40) and Redfield Revolution (4-12x40). I also like the tri- moa reticle. The only issue that I have with the scope, and you will find this reported in some forums and other reviews, is that the elevation and windage adjustment knobs are a little spongy. The adjustments on both the Diamondback and Redfield are more crisp. Nevertheless, since I purchased this scope for hunting rather than bench shooting, and I never make elevation or windage adjustments after sighting in the rifle, the glass clarity is of primary importance to me.

I have this on my CZ 457 and cannot complain. The 4x12 is perfect for that rifle. The reticle is great for what I'm using it for. I only gave 4 stars because I was a little disappointed with the windage and elevation knobs. I thought there would be a smoother click or rotation. I just thought with this being a Leupold scope, the quality would be better. This is my first experience with the Leupold optics outside the Mark series. However for the price, this is a great optic.

I love the clarity of this scope and the pricing is unbeatable. I only gave 4 stars due to the windage and elevation knobs. It's kind of hard to just go up one or two without over or under turning.

Crisp and clear, have shot it out to 300 with no issues. Only issue I have is the zoom knob is overly big and knocks against the recommended Leopold rings fitted for my little mountain rifle—wish that was made a bit slimmer.

I thought to myself, "A 4x12 scope, built in the USA, from Leupold, for LESS than $400? Something's off." Seriously, I just "knew" that to get to this low price-point, Leupold must have skimped out on something.... Cheaper glass, maybe? Plastic knobs? I went to my local outdoor shops, all four of them, and I could not find this scope because it was too new. I didn't want to buy it without putting my hands on one, but it nagged at me. A week went by and I finally pulled the trigger. I *LOVE* t...

Great entry scope
By Frank T.
The glass is very clear, and the reticle has good visibility. It's thicker than the vx3i TMoa reticle. The scope size is fine, except I would have wanted to pay more for a 50mm objective with the Tri Moa reticle.
