Like: scope light weight and good glass clarity. Packaging and extras are appropriate and as expected from Leupold. Don't expect this 1 MOA dot to be as crisp and precise as the Firedot reticle. I own a number of pistol dots including a Delta Pro. Literature is unclear if this turret is CDS, and my Gen 2 Leupold VX-6 CDS turrets appear different. The mount was free so I accepted it. Otherwise it's heavy and the footprint won't match with many muzzleloader patterns. In other words you'll likely need a rail and other rings to accommodate your musket. Exercise a bit of expectation management and you'll enjoy this glass.

My review has been deleted. It had to do with the emitter square being visible without the rds on. You know it's bad when a company deletes negative reviews. if only one person sees this, it's worth my time. Get a optic from a company that can actually make a RDS without the emitter being visible and being a distraction... like ANY other one. Even the companies on amazon that make the 10 dollar ones have figured it out.

Mounted on a lightweight 7.62mm semi-auto (fairly heavy recoil), easy to zero (go traditional bore-sight method for zero, co-witnessing with iron-sights did not work), minimal parallax, holds zero well. See-thru distance on mount not high enough to completely prevent bottom of mount from blocking iron-sights but is workable. So far so good, long time Leupold user, love this little Red Dot, much more robust than many others. Perfect combination of fast CQB style tgt acquisition and long range accuracy, 1 MOA RD doesn't obscure tgt at long range.

Outstanding red dot. I use it in 22 caliber bullyseye shooting. Several of my friends saw it and bought one. The 1 MOA dot is perfect. I am 69 with not good eyes. This optic is super clear with easy to see red dot.

I have mine mounted on a heavy barrel AR-15A2 style carbine. 16" chrome lined mid-length gas Rock River heavy barrel, 1/9 twist, Magpul UBR stock, MIAD 1.1 grip, SL forend, Geissele SSA trigger etc. I have an EOTech HDS, SIG and Bushnell TRS25 red dots to compare to and this has the best of everything. Bright well defined dot, simple controls and simple adjustments. Easiest to use in every regard. I have fired the carbine several hundred rounds with the Freedom RDS and once dialed in it made pounding plates at 200 a breeze. Friends unfamiliar with red dots gave it a whirl and both will probably be getting them if they haven't already. I was a bit jealous as the one guy was nailing steel literally as fast as he could work the trigger, which was very fast. Easy to maintain sight firing quickly and the 1 moa dot gives precision at ranges most red dots give "Minute of Bad Guy" if that. The only thing I want now are FLIP UP LENS CAPS. Well done Leupold!

I use the Freedom Red Dot Sight for varmints and target shooting. It is high quality, accurate and rugged. I particular like the motion sensor system. I never have to bother with on off switch. I routinely change the dot size to adapt to the target. I would highly recommend this to a friend and any hunter or shooter.

Took off my EOTech to try this unit out. Really enjoy this over the EOTech right now. I have only used it a couple times but worth the money

I love the fact that it is so easy to acquire your target. I think the parallax technology is used in this product, I can run my red dot at the top of the optic lens for smoother and faster acquisition of any type target. thanks

I have this optic on an AR 15 carbine chambered in 5.56. I use it for target shooting and home defense. It is well built, easy to zero, and controls are easy to use. I wish it came with lens covers.

It doesn't really have a tint to the glass like the Aimpoint and Trijicon dots. The view is very slightly darker but the colors you get through it are real, and that's my favorite part about it. My battery has lasted about 6 months so far, being used about once a month. I'll try to remember to update the review when the battery finally dies.

Just unboxed and mounted. Appears very durable. It is quite heavy and large. Quality seems on par w/the MRO, PRO and ESP2. I chose it particularly for the CDS and the motion activated feature. These give it a slight advantage for hunting purposes. For defense I would prefer one of the competitors. Mainly due to battery life. My only complaint is the lack of any lens covers whatsoever. Not even a cheap one. I can't even find one to buy as of now. All in all a quality piece with a competitive price point.

First things first, the optic is so clear it's like the dot hangs out there by itself. Many red dots have a tinge of color that can distort the image. My famed Aimpoint H34 has a slight blue hue around the edges and the image lacks contrast. The RDS is crystal clear and has incredible contrast to it. Build quality is great, all controls are very solid and it is light weight. Another plus is the price, it is about half of my H34. And while it it isn't obvious at first, the dot, 1 MOA, is smaller than my 2 MOA H34 when viewed at the same brightness. Someone with younger eyes my notice it even more. For those that need a bit more precision, this may be a big deal. Downsides are that for a 34mm tube the viewing area is smaller than that of the 34mm H34. Sitting side by side the H34 offers a slightly larger field of view. Also the battery, windage and elevation turrets jut out the sides of the unit. A bit distracting when using both eyes open versus the H34 is just the tube as the controls are within the tube. A quick fix was to bring the unit closer, and the more I used it, the less it bothered me. I think Leupold did an excellent job with this, and as with all of my Leupold products, I just don't worry about this thing not working, I know it will. I work in the firearms industry and see a lot of red dots, I am very impressed.

Outstanding red dot for bullseye shooting.

Outstanding red dot. I use it in 22 caliber bullyseye shooting. Several of my friends saw it and bought one. The 1 MOA dot is perfect. I am 69 with not good eyes. This optic is super clear with easy to see red dot.
Let the Leupold 1x34 Freedom Sight with 1 MOA Red Dot Reticle elevate your shooting experience with its unparalleled precision and rugged construction. Built on over 70 years of optical expertise, this red dot sight is engineered to withstand the most demanding conditions without compromising on performance or affordability. The Freedom RDS is a testament to Leupold's commitment to quality, offering a red dot that's not only Leupold tough but also designed, machined, and assembled in the USA, ensuring it meets the highest standards of craftsmanship.
The sight includes an AR-specific mount, making it a versatile choice for various firearms. With a battery life of at least 1000 hours at brightness level 4 of 8, you can trust in its longevity during extended use. Weighing in at just 7.2 ounces without the mount, the Freedom RDS is a lightweight yet robust addition to your shooting gear.
Protected from the elements, the enclosed dot remains crisp and clean, even in adverse conditions. The sight is designed to stay mounted and maintain zero, even when changing the battery, providing a "set it and forget it" convenience. The 1 MOA dot is versatile and accurate at multiple distances, allowing for rapid target engagement and precise shot placement without obscuring your target. The wide field of view and red illumination enhance visibility, ensuring quick and efficient target acquisition.
Leupold's Professional-Grade Red Dot Optical System sets the industry standard with exceptional light transmission, leading glare reduction, and the resolution and clarity that professional shooters demand. The illuminated reticle aids in faster target acquisition in low-light situations, while the Motion Sensor Technology (MST) conserves battery life by deactivating the illumination after five minutes of inactivity and reactivating it upon detecting movement.
The Freedom RDS is rigorously tested to endure extreme climate exposure, surviving temperatures from -40 degrees Fahrenheit to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. It's waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof, with proprietary gas blends and seals tested to a 33-foot depth and various pressure changes. This ensures the optics remain moisture-free and crystal clear for life.
Impact tested and verified, each red dot design endures 5,000 impacts on Leupold's recoil simulation machine, the Punisher, to guarantee reliability under recoil. The 1 MOA red dot, located on the rear (second) focal plane, offers an approximate 1-inch aiming point at 100 yards, facilitating both rapid target engagement and meticulous shot accuracy.
Choose the Leupold 1x34 Freedom Sight with 1 MOA Red Dot Reticle for a professional-grade, durable, high-quality, reliable, accurate, and versatile red dot sight that stands up to the rigors of the field while enhancing your shooting precision.
