Questions & Answers

BARBARA M : I love the binocular harness, but I want to be able to take the binocs off the harness and put them on a regular neck strap sometimes. BUT I haven't found "side release" nylon clips that match the ones on the harness. Can you furnish that?DON P : Sorry, but do not have an answer to this. Would love to find something to do this as well.DMITRY K : Same here...I wanted to use the harness for my camera as well as binoculars Searched for the matching clips all over Amazon and Google shopping.. Bought 5 different ones but none of them connected to Leupolds... If we can get the manufacturer include a couple of spare clips - it would make the harness so much more functional.ROSEMARY S : I never use heavy binoculars without a harness, so would not try to transfer them to a strap. If for some reason I want to just hang the binoculars around my neck, I just loop the Leupold harness like a strap over my neck. Then there is no need to transfer anything or have a strap. That is my suggestion for solving your issue.I spend over 300 days each year in the backcountry with binoculars, and never use a strap, too much strain on the neck. Hope this helps.SCOTT W : We have the same need however we attach the "normal" strap and the clips for the harness to the binoculars together and wear them both at the same time. The harness holds the weight but if we want to share them then we just unclip them and the strap is on them for someone else to use. Hope this helps but I don't know where you can find extra clips.
chelsea l : There are no instructions on how to attach to binoculars???ERIC N : Unsnap the two buckles. Thread one small short strap thru one of the attachment point on the binoculars, & pull all the way until it stops. Thread the buckle thru the loop in the strap you just pulled thru & pull it back until the loop tightens down on the bino attachment point. Repeat for other side. (This may require a bit of effort depending on how tight if fit the strap to binocular is.) Connect the buckles back to the harness straps & try it on! Hope this helps.BALTAZAR B : Really? With all do respect if you need instruction to connect 2 small straps on the binoculars then you have no use for a pair of binoculars bc you will never figure out how to use them. Best of luck Chelsea.Carol R : Hi Chelsea- I purchased these http://www.adorama.com/VORSTRAPC.html . Looks like they are out of stock right now though.BENSON L : No, there were no instructions for attaching the bino carry strap to the binoculars included in the packaging. However, it's pretty straightforward. The binocular strap has two short nylon loops each with the female portion of the nylon clip--one to fit each side of the attachment lugs of the binoculars. Secure each piece to the attachment lugs of the binoculars. The male clips on the larger carrying strap can then be clicked in-place. As for attaching the straps to the binoculars, just look at the illustrations. I've adjusted my straps so that the binoculars sit about chest-high to minimize their movement. However, they can be adjusted lower depending upon your preference. The X-treme Binocular Carry Strap works quite well and helps significantly to reduce strain that would otherwise be caused by the common neck strap, especially if you carry binoculars all day. Hope the comments, above, are of some help. Benson

Practical device

Fine when hunting with dog. But clashes with my rifle when I carry the rifle over my chest

Very good product

I got this because the neck strap on my binoculars gave me a sore neck on days that I went birding for a couple of hours or more. I tried these out over the thanksgiving weekend and loved them. They distribute the weight of my binoculars to my shoulders and they hold the binoculars firmly against my chest so they don't bounce around whe I walk. It's fast and easy to raise the binoculars to my eyes when I need to. I highly recommend these

Makes Binoculars Infinitely More Usable

I know the point of this is to hold binoculars or cameras so the noise of the clips running up and down the elastic straps shouldn't be a major consideration, but I want to be as quiet as possible when hunting, no matter how far away the game animal is. This strap is great otherwise. I used it to hold my Leupold BX1's during a 3-hour archery shoot and the binoculars were completely out of my way while shooting, weren't bouncing around my chest, and easily usable with one or both hands when needed. I am very happy overall, but I think having had the opportunity to compare them side-by-side, I may have stuck with a cheaper strap that I found at [@]. It's good to have a Leupold strap on the Leupold binoculars though.

Excellent Quality product

This is the only strap of this design (I know of) that will adjust down small enough for my wife, yet will still adjust up enough for me. She uses it every weekend for wildlife / bird watching with her compact Nikon binoculars.

Best design on market

The slide buckle design allows the binoculars to move up and down without pulling on the straps.

The Weight Has Been Lifted

The Leupold harness was purchased from Adorama because it is one of the few companies that handle this excellent item. Having surveyed virtually all of the various harnesses (which are all very similar in their concept) on the market, the Leupold has the edge in the means by which the binoculars/camera are attached to the harness. Rather than split rings, snap hooks and/or small loops of varying materials, the Leupold uses two-piece quick-release nylon snap connectors that are very secure. The first piece of the connector is easily attached by threading a woven nylon loop (sewn to the connector with leather) through each binocular/camera strap post, preventing any damage or excessive pressure on the post. The second piece slides easily along the harness strap. Unlike some I've tried, the harness adjusts easily to fit most individuals (the binoculars/camera may hang low on shorter persons; to bring the binoculars or camera to a higher position, the attachment loops can be shortened by putting a knot in each of the attachment loops)and also allows the slider buckles to be positioned so that they don't interfere with bringing up the binoculars/camera for viewing or when carrying a pack with shoulder straps. Note that the harness is made of a heavy-duty elastic material, which turned out to be relatively comfortable and capable of easily handling medium to large-size binoculars or cameras. The material is quite stiff with little flex, which is good. A bit of elasticity also seems to help steady the binoculars/camera. For long periods in the field, the harness does indeed take much of the pressure off the neck and transfers it onto the shoulders. Though black would have been preferred, the strap only appears to come in a dark brown color, which is not uncommon with Leupold products.

Great answer to how to carry binoculars when kayaking on a lake or hiking on the trails

Leupold's X-treme Binocular Strap is designed to reduce fatigue by relieving thebinocular's weight from the neck and evenly distributing it across the back. The X-shaped design of the strap prevents swinging of the binocular, thereby keeping it out of the user's way. It also helps keep the binocular out of harm'sway in the field, preventing snags on brush, hard knocks on rocks and the like. In keeping the binocular close to the body, the strap ensures that it is close at hand, ready for use in those situations where the viewing opportunity lasts only a moment.

Fast-release clips on the strap allow it to be quickly and easily attached to and detached from the binocular.
