Shopper : how do you use the orange filter?PETER M : I cut small sheets and wrap it around the front of my flash to warm LED flashlights for light painting. Use gaffer's tape to hold it in place. Same trick works on flash units.THOMAS E. H : I hasve more than one shade of this filter and have used it on occasion with studio and camera strobes to simulate tungsten lighting. With the variety of artificial lighting found today, I find best white balance settings using a color correct chart(xRite) and pre set white balance in camera.ERIC P : You use it to warm a light source like a speedlight or to right balance different sources on a scene . I use it with a clamp simply hanged in front of the source of lightRyan P : You clip it on to the light barn doors usually with clothespins to change the light temperature/color. Be careful if you clip it too close to the light itself the filter can melt.HYOKI L : You use it to balance the flash to the ambient light. Ie. Tungsten. Otherwise, the flash will seem very white/blue while the ambient w tungsten lighting will be completely orange. So you gel the flash and set the cameras wb to tungsten. And shoot without worry.

I bought this film to backlight with 5050SMD LED lights. The lights are a very bright point source with a high white color temperature. I had a cheaper orange film that completely washed out with this back light. The Lee filter orange retains the rich orange color without the back light. Much better than the cheap filter.
