Shopper : is this good for a child in high school?Pablo M : How long does it take to send a package to New York?Dave A : Too much computer for a HS studentRONALD N : I feel that it is over kill for high school, unless the school specifically calls for a Macbook. Any computer is a plus, but a desktop will suffice since most of the computer time is spent @ home. If your child spends a lot of time away from home (library, traveling, etc.), yes a laptop is the answer, but my experience with my child was while at school, there was not time to pull out a laptop & use during class. Any class that needed a hands on approach in the class room supplied access to a computer. Also, high school kids generally don't take very good care in handling things like this, so chances of damage or loss are high. Would you rather replace a pricey Apple product or a cheap Windows product? Finally, save your money for this to be used in college since in 3-4 years, you'll probably want to consider replacing the computer for college anyway (unless your child is a senior now, then this will probably be good for their college career). My daughter got though high school using a desktop computer & Windows. She was accepted at UC Berkeley & UCLA, so it seems her college acceptance wasn't hurt using a Windows machine ;)ALEX H : Certainly, though possibly overkill. High school kid might be better served by smaller 13" MBP w/retina or by smaller and lighter 13" MB Air.JOE O : Yes. Served me well. Please note that I do not play video games or stream videos, so cannot comment on laptop's capabilities in this area.Otherwise, I was pleased with the computer.CHARLES P : It failed soon after the warranty ran out. So, unless he/she is a senior, I would not buy the product.
