Time to upgrade my 13 inch HP Spectre as the screen is becoming too small for me. I ordered 4 other laptops to test including 1)LG Gram 2-1, 2) Acer Edge, 3) Lenovo 7 slim 4) Thinkpad 16" Gen 1 - storm gray and this Thinkpad 16" but with the 2560 X 1600 non-touch screen, part number 21CH004BUS. Here's the verdict and why I kept the last one:- 1. LG Gram is flimsy, sound is bad. 2. Acer is better and lighter than LG but it's hot. 3. Slim 7 screen has too much glare, loud fan noise and hot keyboard. Performance is good though. Screen is sharp and bright, but it feels much heavier. 4. The Storm gray T16 AMD is pretty good, but mine came wobbly where my right palm rests. The storm gray ones weight 4.24lb, returned due to defect. 5. I ended up getting a replacement of the T16, but opted with the one with better screen and gave up the touch screen in view of the better screen quality as seen in Slim 7. And the black one weighs light at 4.04lb. It says magnesium at the back of the cover though the detailed specs seems to say carbon and glass fiber...but that doesn't matter to me as it feels light and agile! Super happy with the laptop, fast, robust, literally NO fan noise except for brief moments when it's installing updates. Keyboard is good to type and machine runs cool all the time. Sound is good, upgraded screen that came with this model is great too! On top of that, Lenovo customer service is fantastic as they sent me the replacement of the new laptop at black friday price! Can't ask for more! Believing the machine will last as ThinkPad stands behind it!

I'm happy with my purchase so far. It seems solidly constructed. The display is sharp and bright. My only gripe is that the trackpad absorbs oils from fingers and looks smudgy and worn after just a few days.

While the color accuracy leaves a bit to be desired on the 45% LCD model, that is more of a statement on those displays in general - not this laptop. I was more interested in a lower price point. It's snappy, runs cool, and comes without bloat. Speakers are okay, but I'd really have to stretch to finding anything terribly negative about this laptop. Got the 86wh battery, and I'm very pleased with battery life and the highly durable Thinkpad product line in general.

I wanted an AMD Rembrandt based laptop but the only ones available either were tiny (13") or had a discrete video card. The 6800 and 6850 processors had the 12 RDNA2 CU (compute unit) GPU which is where I wanted to be plus a CPU that could compete with a Cezanne 5700g CPU. In short, the 6850u RDNA2 GPU is twice as fast as the Vega 8 on a Cezanne 5700g, the CPU is 80% of a 5700G. Lenovo also gave a nod to fwupd which allowed me to update the BIOS (something that frequently comes with a bleeding edge platform) with Linux, no windows or USB drives necessary. I did a "build your own" from Lenovo's site, which allowed me to specify my processor, memory, display and keyboard (backlight = yes), and battery capacity/charging speed. Any memory upgrade moved the system into dual channel and considering the scarcity of 6800/6850 AMD laptops without discrete GPUs and that I got to build it myself, it was the laptop of my dreams; or at least close enough. From ordering the laptop to delivery was less than three weeks; great. My HP 5700g requires me to remove my Linux NVMe drive, boot into windows, spend hours updating windows, update the BIOS. Lenovo lets me just do a fwupmgr refresh fwupdmgr update. The performance of the 6850u and the 680M graphics is great, the screen is great the sound is good enough the experience was great. Extra stars for never having to boot windows

Battery only lasts for 3-4 hours after a full charge, only activity is browsing. Misleading advertising of this being whole day battery. Have tried everything listed in the lenovo support site to conserve battery but does not help much.

I've barely used mine thus far but I'm hopeful it'll age better than my last laptop. This is my second ThinkPad after trying to make things work with an increasingly jenky Alienware laptop for a handful of years. I think the biggest draw of this model was how it's offered with a decently sized 1440(ish)p display, yet still manages to be reasonably light. I saw lots of reviews criticizing the battery, but for me it hasn't proved to be a problem yet; I have a good feeling about the longevity of this laptop.

Light and great keyboard. Fast. I'd buy again & recommend.

It would be a very good ThinkPad if it weren't for the bizarre actions of squeezing in the main keyboard and shrinking some keys in order to fit a numeric keypad in. I never use the numeric keypad anyway, but to make the main keyboard smaller and place some important keys with virtually no gap next to the numeric keyboard is insane.

Great replacement for my time-proven personally-built desktop. Since I no longer need/want a high-performance multi-purpose desktop I opted for a factory-built, light, general-purpose portable. This has met all my needs.

Solid build quality; trackpad and mouse feel great. The extra screen height is surprisingly helpful. Fast and reliable. My first Lenovo laptop; this is quite encouraging.

My Thinkpad is the first laptop I haven't encountered RAM limitations while working with large datasets in R. It saves me a lot of time to be able to computations locally, particularly when I'm working out in the field with limited internet access.

This would be one of the best laptops at this price. Great battery life and performance, although I didn't experience the full force of 32 gigs of RAM, because Windows 11 isn't super optimized yet.

A few problems with this machine. Mostly upon trying to boot it back up from sleep mode. Sometimes it was a nonresponsive keyboard. Sometimes it didn't want to wake back up from sleep mode at all no matter how many keys I pressed. Sometimes it just gave me a black screen. Sometimes the mouse was hovering nonresponsive over a black screen. It works 9/10 times. but the other 1/10 times is deeply annoying.

Works great had some power issues, but after messing with the power settings sleep mode or the auto hardrive going to sleep changed. Does not wake up well after it goes to sleep, usually have to do a hard reset to get back on so save your work overall willing to work with it but make sure you take advantage of the tech support if needed

Laptop is decent but overpriced. They recently had a price drop so better specs are out there for cheaper.

The form factor and specifications for the T16 are excellent. I really like the AMD platform and bright screen that has the ideal pixel density. There are some growing pains with the BIOS and S3 sleep not being supported yet, but there seems to be a fix on the way. The keyboard continues to go downhill compared to older ThinkPads, but this is the cost of a thinner PC. The battery spec was not on the website when I ordered and was surprised that the top spec did not have the larger battery.

Great laptop

Solid build quality; trackpad and mouse feel great. The extra screen height is surprisingly helpful. Fast and reliable. My first Lenovo laptop; this is quite encouraging.
For today's on-the-go world
The ThinkPad T16 (16'' AMD) was designed to meet the on-the-go working needs of today's hybrid workforce. Powered by up to high-performance AMD Ryzen 7 PRO processors and integrated AMD Radeon 600M graphics, it has blazing-fast memory and cutting-edge storage options. Simply configure the laptop for what you need and it will breeze through any task, anywhere.
As entertaining as it is productive
For brilliant sights and sounds, the ThinkPad T16 excels. While the 16'' touchscreen option boasts Dolby Vision and certified Eyesafe low blue-light technology, each display has an expansive 16:10 aspect ratio for more screen real estate. Plus, Dolby Audio speaker system with Dolby Voice come as standard to enhance your video calls and downtime.
It pays to be well connected
The ThinkPad T16 has a choice of two large capacity batteries, each able to run all-day on a single charge. It has an array of ports, including HDMI and USB-C. as well as blazing-fast connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 6E. And it has a full-sized keyboard with a number pad, perfect for crunching even the biggest of numbers.
Smarter protection, from the inside out
Like every ThinkPad, the ThinkPad T16 has robust security features built in. This includes AMD Memory Guard, real-time, full-system memory encryption, as well as enhanced Microsoft chip-to-cloud security technology. In addition to the Power-On touch fingerprint reader, the optional FHD + IR camera will alert you if someone is trying to view your laptop over your shoulder.
Engineered with one eye on the planet
Even with all its productivity- and creativity-enhancing features, this ThinkPad was designed with the planet in mind. We used recycled post-consumer content (PCC), such as plastic and natural materials, in various components, including the speaker enclosure, battery compartment, and adapter. It also comes with recycled and/or sustainably forested packaging and recycled PCC cardboard cushioning.
Reliability you can count on
We use the US Department of Defense's MIL-STD 810H standards to create a balance of reliability and durability for our ThinkPad laptops. Measured against 12 stringent standards and more than 200 quality checks, they're able to run in the harshest of conditions, from the Arctic wilderness to desert dust storms. Our tests also include temperature, pressure, humidity, vibration, and more.
