Bought this P16 Gen 1 while it was on clearance and have been thoroughly impressed with it. I've used an X1 Carbon for the last 7 years and it was finally due for an upgrade. This has more than enough power to handle most CAD and light video editing I've done so far. It is a bit heavy but that's a trade off if you need power. The palm rest feels a little plasticky compared to the top lid which is a little disappointing but it's not terrible. Overall, it's very solid and the keyboard feels great. I definitely plan on using this for the next 7 years.

This is the second laptop in this series that I have purchased. Enough said. What was even better was that it was on clearance.

Very good build quality and specs for the price i paid. Just as the specs suggest, this works perfectly well and handles high intensive asks like CAD modeling easily for me. It is bulky and heavier, but i don't mind as the specs make it worth it for me.

Placed my order online on Tuesday. Everything arrived on Thursday, a day earlier than expected. My previous laptop was a Lenovo and I had it for 12 years. Hoping to get as much time out of this new one.

Very Powerful Laptop! Please look at the demensions and weight when considering buying, it is very heavy for a laptop.

Bought my P16 gen 1 in April and immediately had to replace the motherboard just to use the USB-C ports. New motherboard fights with every power adapter I have, usually deciding to stop charging at random times, even when there has been zero movement of the computer or charger. Graphics cards, both internal and ones in breakout boxes, cannot have anything other than barebones drivers installed to function. Lenovo trade in only offers $150, and I am honestly considering just recycling it and moving on from Lenovo.

I have had this computer for a year and I would say without hesitation that it is not ready for the C-Suite or any executive situation where you need a reliable machine. I purchased one of the top of the line models and while the power is remarkable for 3D modeling and rendering, the undependable nature, especially when participating in important meetings, has been a disappointment. Of primary concern is the computer freezing while in sleep mode and refusing to wake up, requiring a hard restart that can cause unsaved work to be lost, or delays starting time sensitive presentations. The computer will also free at the log-in page, denying the ability to enter a password or pin, a problem that also requires a hard restart. When paired with the top of the line, and very expensive ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock, the computer will frequently stop transmitting to additional monitors. If you have program windows open on the other monitors, sometimes you will not be able to see them on the laptop's screen when the additional monitors stop working, forcing you to unplug cables, turn the dock off and back on, or restart the computer.

The P16 seems like a great combination of features and performance but unfortunately, Lenovo has been unable to provide me with a machine that is free of issues. I have had 3 P16's so far. The first machine had three issues: - overheating while asleep - trackpad not responding consistently to tap - display back light flicker I worked with tech support to try and resolve these issues. Their recommended course of action was to reinstall Windows; which I did. This seemed like it resolved the display flicker problem, but the other two issues remained. I also worked with Tech Support to investigate the overheating while asleep problem (doing sleep studies), but the 30 day evaluation period came to an end without resolving the remaining issues and I didn't want to get stuck with a problematic computer so I returned it for refund. I immediately purchased another P16 and checked it for the issues that were present on the previous machine. Everything seemed OK for the first few weeks, but then I noticed the track pad not responding again. About this same time I also noticed the screen flicker was back. At this point, I was again at the end of the 30 day evaluation period so I contacted Customer Service (Post Sales) and requested an exchange for another of the same. I received the third P16 and as soon as I powered it on to configure Windows, there were intermittent blinking pixels scattered across the display. I finished the Windows configuration and did all the driver updates (with Vantage) but this made no difference; the intermittent pixels remained. I contacted Customer Service, explained the situation and requested another exchange. They said no problem and that I would receive a confirmation email within 2 days. After 10 days and no explanation as to why my exchange wasn't proceeding, I spoke with an agent who explained that my exchange was on hold. He went on to say if he was to arrange another exchange they would be unwilling to let me return it if there were any issues. (He seemed to be implying that I was either at fault for these problems or lying about them). I obviously couldn't risk taking a computer without a return option, so my only option was to return P16 #3 for a refund. To be clear, my expectation is that the computer needs to arrive without any issues and make it through the eval period without issues. I'm not willing to go through the repair process on an computer I just received. Now it's about 3 months after my initial P16 purchase and I no longer have a P16 - not for lack of trying on my part. The most frustrating aspect is that I had taken advantage of good pricing in advance of Black Friday, but since Lenovo was unable (or unwilling) to provide a properly working computer that opportunity is now gone. I'm being penalized due to Lenovo's inability to send me a computer without issues. Having said all that, I would still like to own a P16, so that must be some sort of recommendation. It seems like it could be a solid machine, if I could get one that works correctly from the factory. 2 out of 5 stars for the potential of being a good machine.

Originally bought a P16 with an i9, A3000, 32gb RAM with the WQUXGA screen, and decided after using it a while, I wanted the OLED screen. My use is some light 3D modelling, photo and video editing, and secondarily, gaming. While the WQUXGA screen is very bright, the color representation is only ok. Did a product exchange for an i9, A4500, 64gb with the OLED screen (paid the difference), and it's been nothing but issues. The head of the screw that holds down the second SSD slot broke, so that the body of the screw was stuck in the stand off. Lenovo's solution was to replace the motherboard instead of the standoff, which required a few hours to unhook everything, replace the motherboard, and then reattach and reinstall everything. A week or two later, the integrated webcam and IR cam are no longer recognized by device manager or vantage, so Lenovo sends a tech out to replace the whole web cam. This required the tech to almost entirely disassemble my computer, just to get at the cabling and module that needed to be replaced. In the process, he broke what look like a couple clips that hold pieces together, forgot to re-install a washer, and left loose screws hanging out the bottom, stating that "they won't screw in because there's screws under them; as long as the screws along the edges are in tight, it's fine." I don't think that's how it works, my man. As my business basically runs off this laptop and it's been out of commission for a couple hours, I said, fine, I'll screw them in myself (he's right, they don't screw in), and he leaves. I quickly find out that the laptop now no longer charges from either the dock I was using (Lenovo TB4 Workstation dock, type 40B0) or the AC adapter it came with. It is dead now (battery life on this thing is, max, a couple hours). Talking to Premier service to try to resolve this, they said they have to have another tech out to look at it in order to process an RMA. Guess who they're sending? The SAME TECH who butchered it the day before! So by my estimation, my business and my RMA hinge on a tech admitting he messed up and signing off on it, or I can keep a refurbished computer I've paid full price on that's been disassembled twice. Great. I get that mistakes happen, and this is a new model, so maybe techs aren't completely familiar with how it goes together. But come on, Lenovo, own your mistake. I'm not sure why I should spend over $4k for a business machine that I should be able to depend on when basic things break, and your service breaks the machine further. I have what is effectively a refurbished P16 now, which is not what I paid for. While it worked, this machine was quite a beast, easily handling heavy photo processing and some pretty graphic intensive games. It isn't easy to travel with (which I knew going in); it's very thick and quite heavy, doesn't fit into many bags easily, and the adapter itself is almost the weight of the computer. It also lasts maybe 3 hours maximum on low settings. The fans spin up quite loud under load, and the thermals were only ok. Anticipating this, I have it sitting on a cooling stand that shoots air into the bottom - this lowered temps by 15-20 degrees, and it was never really much of an issue. I know many will bemoan the lack of an ethernet jack - I run ethernet through my dock and have an adapter for when I'm on the road. However, I don't work in the type of situation that would require me to hard wire into different networks regularly, so this was never much of an issue for me. Ultimately though, I don't feel like I can trust a machine that has issues with components that manufacturers of consumer grade computers get right. Why am I trusting my business and paying a premium for Thinkpad if Lenovo won't stand behind their product?

Great machine. It is Ubuntu certified but you might have to wait before they iron out the support for nvidia-drivers in 22.04 LTS. Especially if you don't want to revert back to an older kernel as the 20.04LTS from factory comes with an older kernel. Lenovo is very quick when is comes to providing support for ThinkPads so this should be resolved soon.

Thinkpad workstations has been my primary tool for our projects. 1st one was W500, then replaced by P50. When I looked for replacement for my P50, the first choice was P15 Gen2. Before I placed order, this Thinkpad P16(not Lenovo P16) came on youtube as new comer. I searched all avaible videos online, but not much review( I guess it was too new). even un-boxing videos are not that many. Anyway, I need a new machine and I have to order one. Based on my trust with Lenovo on quality and performance, I ordered this one. I even recorded my un-boxing video, and I definitely will record some videos on using it on Revit on our projects. Order the better GPU, 4K monitor if you need best colors(like I do). I can see much better performance on Adobe app, too.

I am with a small business and the staff at Lenovo helped me place a critical order even though they were having problems with the SB website. The ThinkPad P16 that I bought is an amazing machine. I have COVID now and I have a lap desk. I literally sleep with this computer and work when I can. I have to run some pretty resource intensive programs and this computer has exactly what I need to run them. Buying directly from Lenovo has given me support options that are critical to my company's needs.

Good workstation laptop. We have similar spec'd P15's, and this one seems to work a little better than them. Thicker and heavier than other models, but needed for graphics card and processor. Screen flickers when being unplugged or plugged in. Battery life is not great with power requirements. Fans are fairly loud to keep it cool under heavier workloads. No ethernet port. The most surprising observation was that the 230W power supply can't provide enough power to keep it charged under heavy workloads.

I was looking for desktop replacement, the P16 looked like a great solution. I was correct. Lots of options, ports, 4 memory slots, two SSD slots (no matter what configuration). Great screen options as well (although I am usually using external monitors). At nearly seven pounds it is not a lightweight, but I knew that going in. I have had the X1 Carbon, X1 Nano and X1 tablet. Each of those is great for what it is, but none of them can handle the heavy load like the P16 can!
