compact, great performance

Subpar keyboard
Recently purchased a P14s Gen 3, as a long (long) time Thinkpad user I am categorically disappointed in the keyboard. It is not quite clear from the photos, but it is clear sitting directly next to my T480s that I am replacing, Lenovo's latest generation of Thnkpads include an all new keyboard design.
One with low profile keys, low travel scissor switches, and almost every problem that other keyboards on the market have. It is notably less comfortable, and honestly robs this machine of the notable and important experience of having a high quality keyboard that has drawn me to Thinkpad again and again, year after year, for two decades.
The rest of the components are nice, the finish is nice, the other pieces are generally there.

Bad cooling system design and loud fan noise
I have had great experience with Lenovo laptops over the years before and thus when choosing new laptop I went for the ThinkPad P14s Gen 3 mobile workstation with Intel Core i7-1260P. The laptop build quality, display, performance and features are great but the fan noise and cooling system is a design failure and therefore overall rating is poor. Even under moderate CPU loads like simply a video call or web browsing the laptop runs hot and thermally and power throttles with the fan blowing at almost max 4000 rpm consistently. Worse of all is that because of the design of the fan/heatsink and output air vents, the fan noise comes out of the right side of the laptop and hence is extremely annoying even at a low fan speeds. For comparison my previous laptop is 2020 year ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 and at the same CPU load, the fan on X1 machine runs about 30% lower rpm and generates no noticeable noise at all. With this laptop the fan noise also has high pitch component that makes it hard to withstand it during longer work hours. What disturbs me even more so is that Lenovo premium support seems to be clueless about this fan noise issue on this model/generation even though Lenovo forums and reviews are full of similar stories. My recommendation is to not buy this laptop as it is not worth the high price tag due to simply bad cooling system design and loud fan noise.

Put the ports back in the workstations
These are workstations. Put the ports back. Please make sure and keep the RJ-45 Ethernet port (1/2.5/5/10G would be nice), and add back the full-sized SD card reader. The port selection and size of the T480s is a good model for the P14s/P16s (with the exception of the spring-loaded RJ-45 port - it needs to be fixed/solid). Also, keep the expandable RAM - but make both slots available for expansion. Lastly, add a second PCIe/NVMe 2280 slot for a 2nd hard drive (remember, it's a workstation).

Excellent little beast!
I've been impressed with the P14S. I do lots of CAD work on it and it has performed flawlessly. Battery life has improved with updates, but for all day use you'll need an electrical outlet to plug in. The 4k screen allows me to see my CAD work clearly and that's a plus on a 14"screen. Highly recommend this laptop!

Not the best...
Overall performance is good. But the battery is holding charge avg 4 hrs in minimal use with the power save on mood. I am not satisfied with the battery. However the fan turned on a low usage of a small video rendering.

ThinkPad P14s Gen 3

Let's see the fingerprint reader is a bit flakey it works sometimes, It keeps telling me to clean the finger print reader, I tried all 21 digits on my body, my 10 fingers and 10 toes, it just wont read them correctly, so I used my other digit and low and behold, I just need to get it hard and it works!
So I took out the upgraded maintenance plan to have Lenovo come to my business and resolve the problem with the finger print reader. Hey can not send it in for repairs as I just might get it back with the same problem and I do not really want to send them my finger.
Now this device also has a heat problem, if you use it for many hours in a row, it gets HOT, just shave your pubic area, as you do not want it to catch on fire.
Otherwise its a fine laptop - I love doing free reviews but hey I got a chance of winning a prize!

Perfect laptop for my personal use and e-learning
I needed to upgrade from my old laptop as I wanted to switch to a smaller and lighter yet powerful machine. I have used Lenovo before so decision was easy to stick to it. I couldn't be more happy with this laptop specifically with the new intel processors.

Work horse computer
While it may not have the 360 spinning screen and all the features for taking fancy note like some other laptops. The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s will definitely have the computing power to accomplish any other task. It also has a compact size with reliable battery life, allowing a student like myself to bring it anywhere and work for hours on end. The high price might be a turn off however with a quality product it should last for years saving you in the long run.

The is device is among the most updated ones available right now. Speed and performance are impressive. However, the store took about 4-6 weeks to deliver. That's a long time while the warranty and added services time is counting down.

Great unit, very compact, fan is a bit loud but not unreasonable. The reason it only gets a 4 is because it hasn't had the chance to prove the test of time. Original impression is very good. Overall 4.5 stars

Fingerprint login never works. Computer dies/sleeps/reboots when you pick it up. Bluetooth problems, Wifi problems, Speaker/Volume problems, Cast to Device freezes constantly. So much of this thing is absolutely garbage.

My first lenovo
This was a great deal after a long market research. I have some concerns about the cooler, but I didn't have a chance to test it properly. I like keyboard, the display and the colors!
