Holds a charge very well, and is super fast on boot up.ARI M : No. Go with a computer with a larger screen if you need a word processor for college.KATHRYN D : Yes, with one limitation (see below), I think this computer would be great for college. I like the keyboard and find it expansive enough for normal typing, and I do quite a bit of that. The touchscreen is excellent and makes it feel like the Yoga was made to run Windows 8. Maybe it was. I have used the tablet mode somewhat, and I like having the option. The Yoga is a smidgen large for tablet use, but it works fine, and since I didn't want to buy an iPad or other tablet, I love the fact that I can convert to tablet when needed. Very easy. I also have used the computer in tripod mode to show things to other people, and so that I can use tablet mode during a meeting. Mouse pad is great. Love the decision on how to handle the function keys; they automatically perform the (to me) more important operations -- volume control, airplane mode -- and only do the F5 or F8 if I specifically ask for 'function.' I can't believe every other computer hasn't already done that.
Here's the limitation: This is not a good computer for keeping handwritten notes. The screen is great at sensing your finger when it makes scribbles, but it is terrible at sensing a digital pen. If you want to handwrite notes on your tablet and have those save as text, this computer is going to drive you mad. I ordered two different types of capactitative-touch pens. Terrible. It's not the pen; it's the screen and the lack of a driver for a pen. (Shame on Lenovo for that oversight!) With a pen, it would be perfect. Alas.Sarah L : So does it have like Microsoft words?
